COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie… Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

Draft in a taster at the Wilson Taproom. Pours a clear orange with a small white head. Notes of caramel and toasted malts, citrusy and piney hops, some grass - very basic, straightforward, fresh IPA. Which works. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a fruity, fresh mouthfeel. Good IPA.

Pours gold with a nice white head. Smells of citrus, some floral hints. Tastes of citrus, some floral hints, some peppery splashes, some metallic hints. Enjoyable.

Can:   Orange side of golden, little haze, thin to moderate frothy white head, nice lacing.   Citrusy based hop nose.   Sweet pith and peel, which is uncommon.   Not candied, but sweetened.   Similar on the tongue, a touch of tea or tobacco leaves.   Not real bright, but flavorful in terms of hoppiness without being overly bitter.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Clean exit, soft bitterness lingers.   Straight forward and solid.   Not a really sweet fruity or floral example, but still a solid example.

Can from the SS. Pours hazy orange with nice white head. Aroma has notes of pine, grass, whole hop notes, with some earth and even a touch of spice. Taste is nice, with balanced notes of some citrus and pine, earth and spice to round it out, with some bitterness but nothing crazy. Really well thought out and done, some nice depth but also easy to drink.

In short: A punchy crisp and sharp IPA with focus on pine-tree and grapefruits. Kick-ass session beer.
How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed fresh the same day I received it from nbutler11, thanks a lot Nick
The look: Clear golden blonde body topped by a long-lasting small off-white head
In long: Mega hoppy nose with pine-tree, grapefruits and some floral notes. Taste is kick-ass. This is not a round and rich caramelized well balanced IPA. This is a rather dry, crisp and very sharp IPA. Some honey and a tiny bit of caramel, a lot of grapefruits, pine tree cones, coniferous tree bark, dry orange peels, tangerines, some citrus fruits. Sharp bitterness of medium-high intensity. After-taste is rather dry with pine-cone tree. What a pleasant surprise this beer was. I knew nothing about this underrated session IPA. Drinking this was almost a religious experience. Religion gives hope not only to the one who have money. Four Peaks gives hop knot only to the one who have money.

On tap at Four Peaks, I was pitifully only able to drink one brew- sorry guys I was roughed up. Pours a clear cooper with a medium white head. A nice pine and citrus nose. The flavor is very nice; sweet citrus, biscuit, lots of pine. Not overly bitter.

Clear golden color/ white head. Nice skunk cabbage, cat spray dank hop aromas. Medium bodied. Floral, grassy hop flavors on a solid pale malt base--

Draft at the brewpub. Interesting light color (IPAs seem to be getting darker and darker). Quite a big citric hoppy bite here. Nice in such a light package (light bodied, too). (#4089, from notes in Jan 2011)

12 oz bottle courtesy of hellbilly! Excellent trader! Pours a pale golden amber hue, well hazed, with moderate bright white head that laces fairly well. Aromas are a nice hoppiness, citrusy notes mixed with tropical fruits, pale and carmel malt sweetness balances with decent florals. Initial is medium bodied, a good ipa, with citrus fruits and good tropical notes on display, pale and carmel malt sweetness balances. A bit of a boring finish, with decent bitterness. Aftertaste leaves bitterness and mango and tropical fruit notes. Solid IPA, but I’m a sucker for tropical fruit hop feels. Good pale malt, ok grapefruit citrus. A very sessionable, lighter IPA that packs some good flavors. Nothing too sweet, nothing to bitter. Very nice. Woot!
