Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie… Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

A good strong standar IPA, goes beyond the standard, pushes the envelope toward an Imperial with a good IBU rating and robust aroma.

On tap at the Monastery in Mesa. Golden amber with a thick foam. Aroma was strong citrus, some pine, and herbs. Medium body had plenty of carbonation. Hop oils gave good presence supported by a lightly toasted malt base. Finish was bitter and moderately dry. Enjoyed this.

Interesting, but tasty beer that isn’t a pale or an IPA but is still satisfying. Nice American hop aroma up front with some citrus, perhaps orange or tangerine, and a little spice. Light to medium amber color with a firm, but quickly disapating head. Flavor is hop first, malt second, but not overpoweringly bitter. Nicely balanced toward hops. Finishes quite dry and clean. Certainly one of Four Peaks better beers. There has been some discussion that this will be Four Peaks’ next bottled brew.

Had this tonight at PAPAGO. Served a gold yellow with a good head and great lacing that hangs in sheets on thre glass. Mild hops aroma with malt and citrus. Easy drinking beer with a easy hops flavor that makes for a good easy drinking beer.

This beer is excellent. Typical pale ale color. Light white head. Great hop aroma. Smooth bitterness with lots of hop flavor. Best Four Peaks beer. I wish they would bottle this sucker. Good stuff.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2008 Altogether an excellent IPA. Can taste woody flavors with hoppy piney resiney flavors. Very dank, like I like it.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2008 Draft. Pours a pale yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma of hops, and a little malt. Hop flavor comes through nicely in this one, and it’s a good refreshing sipper, but pales in comparison with some of the hop monsters out there nowdays. Still, I enjoyed this one. Re Rate from Bottle: Fresh bottle picked up from brewery. Pours a transparent yellow with a nice soapy white head. Aroma of fresh hops, malt, citrus,. Flavor is fresh hops, citrus, with a nice bitter yet balanced finish. Awesome IPA, I hope they start selling bottles into their distribution network at some point because this is a winner.

A- Clear golden hue, big thick white head, thick lacing on the glass S- Moderate pine resin balanced with sweet grapefruit and bubblegum T- Sweet citrus and grapefruit dominate initially, opens up to subtle pine and floral hops, finishes with a touch of sweet and bitter hops M- Medium-bodied, watery texture, moderate carbonation D- Deliciously sweet IPA, easy drinking and well-balanced, this is a very delicious beer that was one of my favorites while living in Phoenix

In short: A punchy crisp and sharp IPA with focus on pine-tree and grapefruits. Kick-ass session beer.
How: Bottle 12oz. Consumed fresh the same day I received it from nbutler11, thanks a lot Nick
The look: Clear golden blonde body topped by a long-lasting small off-white head
In long: Mega hoppy nose with pine-tree, grapefruits and some floral notes. Taste is kick-ass. This is not a round and rich caramelized well balanced IPA. This is a rather dry, crisp and very sharp IPA. Some honey and a tiny bit of caramel, a lot of grapefruits, pine tree cones, coniferous tree bark, dry orange peels, tangerines, some citrus fruits. Sharp bitterness of medium-high intensity. After-taste is rather dry with pine-cone tree. What a pleasant surprise this beer was. I knew nothing about this underrated session IPA. Drinking this was almost a religious experience. Religion gives hope not only to the one who have money. Four Peaks gives hop knot only to the one who have money.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2012 (on tap at Scottsdale location). Dark copper color with small head. Prominent citrus aroma. Big bitter taste with big, juicy citrusy hops and a moderate amount of sweetness. Lighter-bodied with an oily texture. Great bitter finish. A good American IPA, and a bit under-rated.
