COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie… Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

tap-Tucson Beer Fest ahh, this must have been added into the database by squidget(Sebastian). He and I sampled this brew at the same time. This brew has a wonderful citrus aroma full of pineapple, grapefruit and tangerine. Unfortunately, the aroma was the best thing about this brew-pretty one dimensional. not much malt to speak of, but thats definately not what this sytle of brew is about. Good one dimensional brew nontheless

12 ounce can. This is a great IPA. As soon as I cracked the can I was hit with a huge citrus hop bouquet. The flavor has a firm malt backbone allowing for the big hop profile. This is a fanatic IPA.

Pours a golden orange. Aromas of pineapple, slight mango, citrus, malt, slight pine and grapefruit. Initial flavor is sweet with a nice bitter backbone. Flavors of tropical fruit, grapefruit rind bitterness, a nice hop spiciness, typical malt background and a little touch of resin/pine. Mouthfeel is oily and a tad sticky. Overall a pretty solid IPA. Worth a try.

Orange nose. This one goes both ways from the start, moving from a nice malt directly to both a light bitterness and orange overtones. I’d say its bipolar, but going both ways makes it sound more interesting.

Can. Pours a nice golden orange color with a white head. Aroma is of orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple and sweet malt. Flavor has lots of dank grapefruit and an almost cat pee flavor which makes me think of Simcoe hops, again I get orange, tangerine and pineapple with some sweet malt. The body is on the lighter side of medium with a dry mouth feel. Overall a pretty tasty IPA, but feels a little more like an APA since it isn’t as hoppy as most IPAs.

Draft..phoenix. Pours rich, foggy orange...mild hoppy nose and initial flavor ... Has more an APA taste and feel than an IPA....smooth and tasty

On Tap at Four Peaks. Clear deep golden hue with a thin white head. Rather nice scent of floral hops with a hint of apricot. Taste was a little piny and bitter with a hint of straw. Light body with medium carbonation, perhaps I’m spoiled being from Denver but this beer did not wow me or taste complex in any way. It was a passable IPA at best, but did have a nice nose.

12 ounce can pours an orangish, amberish color aromas of grapefruit, and pine. Flavor is the same with a huge bitterness at the end from the grapefruit flavors.

12oz can courtesy of cbkschubert. Pours a nice cloudy golden color, decent finger or so of head. Smells delicious to me, very sweet and fruity with a bit of malt. Taste is... meh. Very sweet. A bit bitter, and kinda... watery...

Can from AJ’s Fine Foods. I don’t get it. All the delicious beers I had from AZ are scored really low and this mediocre IPA is scored way up in the 90s. The issue with Hop Knot is that it’s a very sweet, malty IPA with not a ton of hop character. The aroma has strong caramel and honey with a piney bite for some balance. A few sips confirms that this is really sweet for the style. Flavors of toffee, honeycomb and citrus.

A very well done IPA. Good hoppiness and a nice malt balance. On draft at Frog and Furkin.
