4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 CaptainCougar (6835) - Columbia, USA - OCT 12, 2004
GABF 2004: Pours a clear dark copper with an off-white head and thin lacing. Nice fresh hoppy, pine, and caramel malty sweet aroma. Starts rich and syrupy with lots of caramel toffee balanced with a floral hoppy bitterness. The alcohol is very well hidden under a smooth bittersweet finish. A very nice DIPA.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 onceblind (1623) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 10, 2011
GABF 2011. Clear nutty deep dark copper, with a frothy light khaki head. Nice big fig and plum aroma with loads of toasted toffee. Flavor starts a little boozy, mellows into a large dark ripe fruit tone (raisins, cherry, plums) with some bitter grapefruit hops. Very malty with some burnt toffee tones, mild astringency, huge body, but with a balanced bitterness. Not shabby!

Hazed orange pour with creamy white head and lace. Dried fruit and a huge resiny hop aroma. Super sweet maltiness and a huge resiny bitter. Medium/full bodied with smooth carbonation. Nice.

On tap. Pour is orange/gold with a cream colored head. Aroma shows notes of caramel apples, orange peels, honey, and brown sugar. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of pine, mango, and peach. Overall body is somewhat thin for a barleywine. Other than that, it’s pretty balanced.

Draft, courtesy of nbutler11, thanks! Nice aroma, pine, citrus and grass, with decent flavor for a barleywine.

Finally got to rate this one. Snifter. Dark gold with a foamy head. Nose is prominent in hops. Taste comes off though a very malty and a bit sweet. The 12% is well hidden in the beer. Confusing but very drinkable. Dangerous.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 dcschiller (1682) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUN 8, 2010
(On tap at Scottsdale location). Dark amber with off-white head. Slighty smoky/tobaco/citrus. Taste is bitter with slight sweetness. Salty when it’s colder. Finish is lingering bitterness with sweetness appearing as it warms. I love bitter beers, but it just didn’t seem balanced to me. I think it could have used more aging to remove more of the rough edge.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Tmoney99 (7300) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 2, 2010
Draft sample. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy hop, dark fruit and toasted malt and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable beer that exceeeded my expectations.
3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sammy (6129) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 6, 2010
Best of the product line. Enjoyed on tap at the Scottsdale location (brewed in Tempe). A mostly dark peach colour, very lacey with a white head. Closer to a Double IPA, very good and strong hoppiness. Above average mouthfeel. Some fruitiness.

Damn nice brew. Light brown pour. Aroma is loaded with citrus hops, honey, caramel, toffee and some good fruit. Flavor is both sweet and hoppy. Great dose of honey, caramel, orange peel, pine and some faint hint of nuts. Good shit.
