3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JAN 3, 2010 I did not sense any Scottish peat smokiness. Good round mouthfeel made me think of pears or melon, like a German dark wheat. Amber to brown, taste of malt with sweet finish.// rerated draft in phoenix ... mouth feel still striking ... slightly better than I remembered.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: AUG 31, 2005 Another good beer on the sampler platter. Nice amber color to it and had some good carbination. Sweet aroma and flavor to it. Will have to go back and have a full glass.
Rerate: Detected a malty musty bar odor and sweet. Amber body and decent head. Not overly sweet and a maly back bone to the beer flavor. Clean and smooth on the palate.
Also had this on cask in Tempe; Had a great aroma of a wooden barrel. Body was dark amber with off white head. A wooden alcohol flavor. Just glad the alcohol wasnít overdominate. Smooth on the palate an enjoyable brew.

Clear amber color with thin head and no lacing. Stinky sour malt nose. Sour malt flavor with some alcohol warming. Not that great. Maybe the bottle was bad.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I guess Iím biased because they brew this stuff down the street. Itís much better on tap, and if you live in AZ itís almost impossible to go to a bar and not see Kiltlifter on tap. Sweet, malty, and Iíve seen "smokey" used in some of the ratings and since thatís as close as I can pin point it weíll go with that. Great for those nights you feel like getting laced by something that tastes decent.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Copper. Moderately aromatic, with scents of herbs, grass, smoke and toasted malts. Flavor is very similar to the aroma with an added hint of caramel, toffee, wood, smoke and vanilla. Toasted malts are very evident. Very sweet for the style. Very light in nody. Mediocre.
