This is an ale made in the tradition of the great strong ales of Scotland. Amber colored, malty sweet with underlying note of smokiness.

On tap: Mild scottish aroma; sweet and grainy; very slightly smoky; served way too cold and I didnít have time to wait; giving the benefit of the doubt, it still is not very good

light brown/orange color with big, quickly dissipating off white head. Aroma is full of styrofoam, with a bit of strawberry and faint noble hops. Flavor is simple, malty with a touch of caramel, dry finish. I donít think this is infected, because the taste is ok, if a little boring, but it really doesnít smell good at all.

On tap @ Famous Daveís, Chandler Mall, AZ: Amber red in color, almost no head, white. Very light aroma, hops. Not much taste, hoppy, nutty aftertaste-similar to Newcastle. Very lively and carbonated.

Dark Orange/Brown to Copper Coloring with Off White Head. Very Sweet Aroma. Smells Closely to Toasted Dry Fruit Than Smoke...Sweet Malt No Doubt Helping in This. Heavy Malt and Peat Notes. Smokey Burn on Back of the Throat. Interesting Brew!

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2005 12oz bottle. Copper color with white fizzy head. Sweet aroma of malt with a trace smoke as it warms. There is a bit of smoke in the taste, lots of roasted abd fire flavor. Then, bam! it falls flat. It is a smooth drink, nce abv, but there is no finish in this. After the start, I was expecting more. Still, pleasant. Thanks beerhandy.

A dark amber that does not go down like a dark amber. Though rather sweet, it is not enough to distract from the enjoyment of this smooth beer. From the tap is the best way to drink it, although I have only had it out of a bottle a few times. It is best served ice cold, but even after sitting in the Arizona heat for a while, it is drinkable.

Thanks go to either Beerhandy or FlacoAlto who both sent packages that arrived on the same day. Very sweet aroma and no smokiness at all. Almosts mells like mango juice which I have to assume wasnít intended. Dark amber color with a huge head that fades to nothing in short order. Very light with, finally, a touch of smokiness and a dash of caramel, but scant else and little intensity in the present flavors.

Light brown color with a thin head. Aroma is odd... it seemed like smoke, but more like smoke from a grass fire than a wood fire. The taste was very heavy on the malt and had the dry finish I expected. Slight alcohol burn on the end.

Doughy diacetyl aroma - almost Bohemian Pilsener. Good coloring. Not sweet at all. A definite spike in the bittering, doughy, peaty, quick crisp finish, although some tannic qualities linger on. Not ale-y enough, but well-balanced and very drinkable. Initally served ice-cold at a Phoenix, AZ resort, I expected it to get a little bit more caramel as it warmed, but it didnít. This almost reminds me of an alt. Good, drinkable, but just mildly Scottish.
