This is an ale made in the tradition of the great strong ales of Scotland. Amber colored, malty sweet with underlying note of smokiness.

Bottle: Pours a clear effervescent copper amber with a large, airy, spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of lightly toasted caramel malt with a lot of fruity esters. Body foams up on contact, settling into a very under-developed sugar-watery flavor with only undertones of caramel malt and some earthy hops. I don’t know what causes it, but it kinda reminds me of a cheaply made homebrew.

sample. It was a decent beer but not one of my favorites from them. I would choose something else first.

Tap. Previously I had only had this in bottle. Very nice, light red in color. Smooth taste. Very nice Scottish offering. My favorite pour of the evening.

Tap. Great beer, separate alcohol taste at times, but overall an extremely enjoyable beer. On the strong side and definitely easy to drink - so buyer beware. Great beer for the winter as well.

This is my favorite from this brewer. Really, i mean really. easy to drink, so much so it is dangerous. Nice balanced beer slightly malty with a light red/amber color. Good all year round.

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2008 This is my favorite local beer, especially to drink with food. Color varies from a clear light brown to a hazy medium red. Lots of brown sugar, caramel. malt and nuts.

Bottle: Pours a pellucid amber color with light tan head and a bit of lacing. The nose is nice and malty, lots of nutty crystal malt notes along with a light balanced hop essence. The flavor is a rich and malty/nutty experience with a full bodied finish. Seems very malty and smooth. Nutty. Good. I like a good balanced, straight (and malt) forward scottish. Maybe a bit lacking in the smokiness and earthy qualities, but it’s simple, and simple is good (sometimes).

Smells pretty good and looks okay. This is a pretty nice Scottish ale for me. My buddy, beerlist, had some chunks in his, but not mine. Malty, but with a smooth light finish.

Blind rating, American Beer Tastings at Sk8viking´s. Pours a clear hazy cobber. Sweet with notes of malts and honey. High carbonation. Light bodied. Alcohol in the finish with some dryness.

Bottle... Clear, light brown ale (no orange or red tint to mine) with a small, creamy, off-white head. Earthy, herbal aroma with a rumor of mint. Subdued toffee and biscuit flavors. Good balanced… leans just a touch on the sweet side. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Thin, watery finish. A big THANKS extended to FlacoAlto for shipping this one to me!
