This is an ale made in the tradition of the great strong ales of Scotland. Amber colored, malty sweet with underlying note of smokiness.

12oz bottle. Ruddy copper pour, big bubbly head fades to a nice collar, no lacing. I get mostly citrus and cereals in the aroma, very very good. Taste is good as well, sourish in the beginning, I get the smokiness in the end. Palate is medium bodied, erring towards light. I wouldn’t drink it all night. Definitely more carbonated than other scottish ales I’ve had.

On tap at brewery in Tempe. Fairly good malty brew. Some smoke in aroma and in the taste. Nice caramel flavor somewhat light in the body., but it was a drinkable brew good with their burgers.

Can by the pool... OK overall, nothing wrong but nothing terrific either. Light amber, bready spice nose. Barley forward, with a tangy dried fruit middle and finish. Hoping for more smoky depth.

12oz can. Pours a clear, ruby/caramel with a finger of off white head. Aroma has nice notes of malty grain, caramel, dark fruits, and a touch of fruityness. Taste is semi-sweet with mild notes that match the aroma. Grain, caramel, and slight dark fruits. Medium body and carbonation. Slightly dryer finish. Overall pretty tasty. Not huge flavours but they are there and well blended. Would have again.

On tap. Pours a clear, dark amber with a short off-white head and lacing. It has a mild aroma of dark malt with a bit of scotch. The flavor is dark malt throughout with a sweet finish over a medium body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
