COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an ale made in the tradition of the great strong ales of Scotland. Amber colored, malty sweet with underlying note of smokiness.

The malt was as rancid as a scottish man lifting his kilt in your face, thus the name. I am very disappointed with Four Peaks, seems they focus on quantity more than quality.

12 ounce can pour. Brownish color with a red hue. Decent head. Malty and smooth. Kind of low alcohol for the name, but a nice well rounded beer.

Golden amber from the bottle. Creamy off white head with caramel aroma. Medium body with good carbonation. Caramel sweetness is followed with a smokey character. Finishes dry with residual sweetness.

On tap at Sheraton Phoenix Airport Hotel (which is strange considering how many times I’ve had it at the brewery and not rated it). Sweet, malty aroma with a slight woody, caramel edge. Crystal clear light amber topped with a finely laced white head. The sweet caramel malt flavor follows into the taste with what seems like an alcohol bite not fitting the 6% ABV, so I’m guessing it might be either the hops or the way the grain was roasted. Although the earthy hops do make a show, the malt is the star here. Some lingering herbaceousness and some dark fruits (plums, prunes and figs). Finishes sweet and smoky.

I’ m not sure why a comment is needed but I like this beer. I also try to support local so it’s a win win for me as I live in AZ.

Dark amber pour with reddish hue and small off white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and dough. Taste is caramel, toffee, slightly nutty. Perfect carbonation and not overly sweet as the caramel and toffee would suggest. Everything works perfect together in this beer. The ultimate definition of session beer. Good job.

Perfect, perfect, perfect! I drink this by preference by the six-pack since I can get it at my local grocer, but on draft.... Oh, hell yeah! Amazing flavor, perfect head, aroma that soothes, palate pleasing, smooth finishing beverage of perfection. And its from Arizona? Too perfect!

On tap at Four Peaks. Clear amber with small offwhite head. Aroma is malty and bready with a hint of oak. Taste is one dimensional - just lots of sweet malt and no bitterness. Could use more body and flavor for this style.

Pint at Delux. Pours brown with no head. The aroma is even and balanced, obviously malty. I get notes of vanilla, oak, bread, and nuts. The flavor is not too sticky, though on the sweeter side. It’s nutty with hints of toffee, ripe fruit and a solid, woody hop bite. The finish is tobacco-like. Enjoyable, especially for a style that I find to be hit or miss.

Pours a dark clear copper with medium creamy head that sustains itself but leaves moderate lacing. Caramel and roasted malt flavors with a subtle bourbon addition. Modest floral hop aroma. Creamy carbonation and chewy texture. full bodied. Medium finish that is subtly boozy and mildly sweet. Very well balanced.
