COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an ale made in the tradition of the great strong ales of Scotland. Amber colored, malty sweet with underlying note of smokiness.

On tap at the Tucson airport. Dark amber with a hint of red. Smells a little off, tastes malty. I’m not a big fan of Scottish Ales, but this is pretty good.

Pours a clear amber color with a thin head. Flavors of sweet caramel and toasted malt.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly hazy and cloudy orange copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, pear, raisin, toast, bread, floral, light peat, and floral earthiness; some light phenols as well, but not too bad. Some nice aromas with good balance, strength, and complexity; the phenolic note knocks it down a bit. Taste of caramel, toast, raisin, pear, bread, floral, light pepper, light peat, and floral earthiness; slight phenols noticed after the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, toast, bread, floral, light pepper, light peat, and earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice balance of flavors with solid complexity; good robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. The phenolic note was noticeable, but not too detracting. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice Scottish ale. Good balance of malt/fruity flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Draft at the brewery in Tempe. Pours amber/orange with medium white head. Sweet caramel malt with some fruit hints. Just OK.

Bottle share by Brian, aroma of corn and wheat, almost lager like. Taste is similar, little bit of caramel, light body, blah. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pale cola pour with no head. Mild sweet caramel but it reminds me of malt likka. Not awesome.

Deep red, slightly cloudy pour. No head. Aroma is very sweet. Hints of scotch in the aroma. Some apple notes. Huge syrupy mouth. Taste is estery with hints of booze. Some scotch notes along with cereal and bread. It didn’t quite life my kilt.

Tap @ Four Peaks Tempe. Pours a clear, dark orange appearance with a white head. Light caramel, toasty malty, a bit sweet aroma. Fruity, a bit citrusy, sweet caramel malty flavor. Ok.

Pours a clear amber/copper with little head, but lots of carbonation. The head is off white with very fine bubbles. Aroma of stewed fruitiness with a slight dryness. The taste is fairly dry, with a bit of maltiness in the back of the throat. Slightly roasty. The bitterness seems to kick in a few seconds after you swallow. Slight alcohol warming. Light to Medium bodied, surprisingly little carbonation in the mouth, considering the carbonation in the bottle. Bitterness definitely lingers. I will happily drink a fair amount of these. 355ml bottle, Poured. Thanks Amanda for bringing this for me!

This is hugely popular in the Phoenix area - I see it on virtually every menu. It’s not bad, but a bit overly malty for my taste generally. Lots of caramel; thick. To me it’s better later in the evening.

Not a great, flavorful Scottish Ale. I wanted to like it, but with Founders Dirty Bastard and Three Floyd's Robert the Bruce as my pace setters, this just falls far behind. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
