COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an ale made in the tradition of the great strong ales of Scotland. Amber colored, malty sweet with underlying note of smokiness.

If you've never had it on tap then you need to ASAP. It is not even close to the same beer in a bottle. The stuff in the bottle is boring like Al Gore, but on tap it's spicy like Charro. Bottled it seems like a basic amber with too much fizz. Since draught is often less carbonated that might be the major difference. My go-to beer when on tap, but NEVER from a bottle. Goes well with mexican food.

12oz at wedding reception. Clear dark amber. Soda fizz out off white foam. Nose is metallic, sugar, pennies, worchestershire. Taste is sweet, fairly sticky, sweet tea, flat cola, mild cherry. Palate is suddy, sweet tea. Yeah.

Kilt Lifter isnít terribly exciting - it offers little in terms of complexity and body. However, its malty caramel sweetness, smooth mouthfeel, even balance, and slightly roasty finish make for a brew thatís easy to tip back and almost impossible not to like.

Draft in a sampler at the Wilson Taproom. Pours a clear amber with a small off-white head. Notes of caramel and toasted malts, brown sugar, and dried leaves. Light-medium bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and a malty mouthfeel. A little disappointing.

Location: Draft at the Production Facility Tasting Room, 3/8/14

Aroma: The nose is caramel malts, with some fruity notes, a little spice, and some peat notes
Appearance: It pours a clear amberish color with an off-white head and average lace
Flavor: The flavor is medium sweet, caramel malts, with spice and peat notes
Palate: The body is medium, it has a soft-to-average carbonation, and a lightly dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a decent, drinkable beer. I didnít have any issues with it. It wasnít a favorite for me, but if this was the only craft on tap at a restaurant, Iíd be happy to drink it again.

Rcvd in trade. Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a bronze yet slightly amber looking colored body with a one finger white foamy head that dies within a minute, lacing tries to cling to the glass but slides a bit, spider webs after a while. The smell had a rich sort of malty, peatiness with a slight tobacco edge. The taste was mainly sweet, slightly peaty aftertaste, smooth sweet finish. The palate was about a light to medium and somewhat sessionable. Carbonation is very subdued but still good for the style and for me. Overall, I say a pretty good Scottish Ale, good job Four Peaks, second brew by them and Iím becoming quite intrigued by them.

Pretty subtle and sweet malts. No hops. Not a lot of flavour, but I guess it would be session able. Pretty typical Scottish Ale. Nothing Special. Thanks JM for the sample.

Copper color. Sweet caramel malt on the nose. Big malt and caramel on the palate, without being overly sweet. Nicely balanced.

Malty, sweet, and slightly smokey. Amber color and smooth, though not particularly distinctive as a scotch ale.

I enjoyed this at the Phoenician Hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona during a recent work function. The beer was a distinctive scotch ale that was very drinkable. Overall the beer filled a nice gap from the ordinary mass produced beers on the market.
