This is an ale made in the tradition of the great strong ales of Scotland. Amber colored, malty sweet with underlying note of smokiness.

If you've never had it on tap then you need to ASAP. It is not even close to the same beer in a bottle. The stuff in the bottle is boring like Al Gore, but on tap it's spicy like Charro. Bottled it seems like a basic amber with too much fizz. Since draught is often less carbonated that might be the major difference. My go-to beer when on tap, but NEVER from a bottle. Goes well with mexican food.

Again do not see the scores reflecting that this brew is a great Scottish ale. Amber to garnet, big head and carbonation brought out wonderful malts and dark fruits. Taste is just like smell with added peat to it and some anise. Excellent.

3/18/15 from 12 oz bottle at hotel during Spring Training. Good light malty and not much bitterness or hops. Refreshing ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught. Pours a somewhat hazy brown color with a moderate off-white head. Nose was definitely malt forward, and has some caramel and hints of toffee for me. Taste was slightly sweet, but had a slight crispness to it that wasn’t bad. Largely forgettable, though.

Amber body with a thin beige collar. Sweet, fruity aroma. Caramel malt with fruity esters. Thin body with low carbonation. Mild hop bitterness in the back. A small sample was plenty.

Odorless and brown in appearance. Overall an average scotch ale. Nice malt and caramel cover. Had it on tap in Phoenix.

sample at the scottsdale location, caramel flavors with a bitter finish, no aroma, just light thin malts. Its your run of the mill scottish.

Sample tray at the Scottsdale location. Deep brownish amber color. A ring of thin beige foam lingers. Smells like new leather and burnt sugar. Tastes like a stronger version of Big Rock Traditional. Thin, bitter dry aftertaste. Skip it.

Interesting Scottish ale. Strong flavor. A good beer to enjoy while your Buckeyes roast the Ducks.

Dark body - half finger off-white head. Aroma is fully of sweet malt, mild biterness, caramel, generally roasty. Simple while nothing special. Flavor is incredibly sweet, with a mild roasted nut flavor to balance things slightly...little hop bitterness. Palate is relatively full bodied for the style with light carbonation - easy drinking. Decent rendition of the style, though I would have liked more to offset the malty sweetness.
