Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 14, 2008 Slightly hazy straw colour. Light, husky, light bitterness (~20). Maybe some grassiness but mostly a clean straw taste. Not terribly kolsch-like.
ajm (369), California, USA Aug 30, 2008 I didn’t have a problem with this beer at all. I was with nbutler11 and made the more storied move of committing to a full pint rather than the sampler shot. What I saw was a beer much lighter in color than the Kolsch I had in Cologne, Germany. It was much lighter as well, with watery fruit notes (underripe orange) and mild wheat - oddly no yeast or flour. This seems to be for anyone who wants something more fortified than a wit but doesn’t want to kick it up to an ale - in a college town, not sure who this would be... nbutler11 (218), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 30, 2008 Pours golden from the tap at Four Peaks with a trim white head. Mildly carbonated with faint peaches on the nose. As much as I’d like to say I remember the flavor, though, it was apparently THAT forgettable. RedSox2004 (175), Pacific Palisades, California, USA Aug 26, 2008 On tap at some hotel in some town in AZ - God I hate travel! Clear light yellow, decent bright white head and lacing. Bit of citrus on the nose and palate. Light malt and bread flavors with a touch of spices. Very soft on the palate, like a good pilsener, with good carbonation and an pleasant aftertaste. A nice simple beer, just not worth pursuing. DenverLogan (421), Oceanside, California, USA May 25, 2008 Light gold...minimal aroma or head. Easy and light with slight honey, golden raisin...nice for a session brew. On tap at Tempe brewery. IPALover (57), Carlsbad, California, USA May 25, 2008 Nice clean example of a kolsch. The color was of light straw and it had a very authentic flavor resembling good german kolsch beers i’ve had in Cologne. Nice job.
