COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally titled "Steam Beer", California Common is the modern example of what is arguably America’s only native beer. This beer style was developed in the San Francisco area during the Gold Rush days. The hop aroma is moderately high giving a woody, earthy aroma supported by moderate toasty, caramel malt aromatics. This will apear as a medium amber with a copper hue. The flavor profile showcases the hops accompanied by the light fruitiness due to the warmer fermentation temperatures and a caramel maltiness. 5.0% abv.

tap in tempe... richly colored clear copper hue with a tannish off white head. there are some drips and spots of lace left behind. the nose is quite fruity... surprisingly in fact... with notes of woody yeast, toasty malty sweetness similar to kiltlifter but cleaner, muted non resinous pine, spice and a touch of cooked barley. the palate is nicely dry... the fruitiness shows back up to join maltiness, spiciness, light earthy piney hops and a dry clean finish. yeast finally shows up in the aftertaste along with an almost tongue numbing hoppiness. medium bodied yet light and clean enough to drink a bunch! the more hot sauce i eat the hoppier it gets! 7/4/7/4/16/3.8

Tap at the Brewery. A very nice beer - quite German. Nose is light malt, hint of sugar, mild yeast. Color is a nice light brown. Flavor is a very nice nuttiness with mild barley malt flavors. Highly drinkable, but more formidable than what I thought of when I read ’lager.’ Nice surprise!
