2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Sample tray at Scottsdale location. Clear amber color with a thin ring of foam. Smells nice: apricot, lemon, sugar. Starts off nice too but quickly turns into a macro pale lager. Watery, bland.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Clear sparkling gold with a thin ring of a head. Medium-light body, fizzy seltzer water carbonation, sweet, simple pale malt saccharine aroma and flavor, lightly toasty, light finishing bitterness (pepper, herbs). Malt is decent, faint apple-like ester fruitiness, carbonic acid quenching but still too rough. Reminds me of Peroni.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at airport brewpub. Pours a clear gold color with a soapy white head. Aroma of sweet pale malts, fruity esthers and clean lager yeast. Taste is pale malts and fruity esthers with a clean finish. Would like a bit of a dryer and crisper finish a light touch of bitterness to make this a true kolsch.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted on 5/14/13 on draft at the brewpub. Pours clear pale golden with a thick white head that leaves thick, smooth lace. The nose is malty bread and cereal with a green hops aroma underlying. The flavor is even more focused on the bready cereal malt with a bit of green hops bitterness. The body is light with lively carbonation and a short cereal finish.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
"average as far as american attempts at the kolsch style. nothing offensive and nothing to make it stand out at all. some grainy sweetness in the nose and flavor with a slightly bitter finish. light on the palate. not really memorable."
