COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Winter Wobbler is a very special offering that is released each year around mid-December. Although the Winter Wobbler name stays the same, the style of beer changes every year. 2003’s offering was a Dunkleweizen. 2004’s version was something a little different, in the realm of Herb and Spice beers, heather and sage to be exact. 2005’s version is a traditional German Bock recipe. A Bock bier is a dark German lager, usually higher in alcohol and described as malty and syrupy. Ours was fermented with top fermenting lager yeast which makes it a "Top Bock". A rich orangey fragrance and spice comes from the rye malt, allspice, orange peel, and coriander added to this bold winter ale. Two weeks of aging on raw cedar wood has enriched this already complex ale with even more holiday spice and aroma. It will weigh in at a whopping 8.2% alcohol by volume, but remains very smooth and drinkable. Cheers...

Old dust and spruce in the nose. Light body with funky dust and old tarp left in the garbage, Biscuty malts in the finish. Very odd.

christmas candy aroma. i couldnt quite nail down what in the world it was. the flavor was the same case, i somehow got it into my head that there might be a hint of ginger in there somewhere. interesting taste, but i dont need it again.

A big aroma of pencil eraser. Tastes like cake frosting. Totally bizarre. Marginally good.

I was totally lost as to what the hell Four Peaks was trying to do with this. The aroma was very very weak with hints of spiceyness and something to the effect of candy. The Winter Wobbler poured a nice amber with minimal head. Its taste was also that of extreme candy and something like caramel leaving a dry, candy taste in my mouth. Ya know, if i wanted to go to the sweet factory i would have gone and gotten this effect for half the price. I wasn’t digging this one too much, but because it contains alcohol, which did stand out considerably in the taste, i will give this a mediocre rating.
