Can. Pours clear ruby hazel, small tan head, dissipates fairly quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is roasty, tobacco, a bit of vanilla. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, vanilla, roasted malts. Medium body. Meh.

From can. Aroma, besides vanilla, is pretty faint. Cocoa, little coffee, burnt malt, and bittering hops. Taste has cocoa, vanilla, coffee, bitter hops, and unmistakable taste of peanut. The palate is light-medium body, fizzy carbonation, medium finish with cocoa and coffee dominating. The mouthfeel is thin and insubstantial. A decent session beer, but as far as porters go, not my favorite. The flavor is good, but mild and I wish the body was more substantial.

Cola color with a thin white head. Malty sweet aroma. Cocoa and coffee. Flavors are vanilla, chocolate and slight fruity notes. Really very nice.

On tap at Local Roots. Clear chestnut brown in color with a medium tan head. Aroma of vanilla, burnt sugar, caramel, chocolate and malt. Vanilla and malt flavor up front, giving way to caramel before a sweet chocolate finish. Iíve had this a couple time since then and itís different every time. Sometimes itís incredibly roasty with barely any vanilla character and other times itís like a vanilla brown ale. This one was perfect, as it was nicely balanced between the traditional porter and vanilla accents.

Can from Barrel and the Bottle in Columbus. Pours a nice porter brown with an off-tan head. Nose is earth, cola, some medicinal notes, mild syrupy vanilla, and bits of chocolate. Flavor is similar with mild chocolate, earth, some medicinal notes, some mild vanilla, and some mildly tart notes. Light in body and an almost dry finish.

Big thanks to vintage for having this rare beer on tap! A sweeter fresh smelling beer. Dark looking fer sure. Yes, first taste is vanilla but its not overdone. Perhaps a tad cloying at first then it eases into a fairly smooth brew. Hides alky well, canít believe this is 6%+. Not bad overall, has manners and is quite civilized compared to other vanilla beer that simply want to get in your face. Does not seem to possess any artificial attributes.

Poured a dark brown color with aromas of light roast, vanilla, light earth and some malt. Flavors are vanilla, cola, some roast and light malt. Little thin for my liking but decent overall not the worst porter out there. Thanks markwise for the can.

12 ounce can. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. Aroma is mostly sweet, the brew smells like vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate and some caramel. I think the taste pretty much is just like the aroma. Itís a mostly sweet tasting brew, with the vanilla being the strongest flavor but at the same time not overpowering the other ones. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit coating and creamy with moderate carbonation. I think itís a good overall brew, definitely worth a try at $9.49 a 6-pack.
