3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rating #1788 - 2015.06.27 - Bottle from stop along a longer day in Van. Pours a golden yellow with a carbonated white foam that goes on for days Aroma is mild funk, mild floral lavender, citrus. Palate is actually quite sweet, lots of floral lavender notes, as well as a sticky sweetness. Mild sour note from the yeast. Not enough gumption in the funk for a real rippin’ saison, but this is certainly light, sweet, and crushable.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Yet another saison made in North America that’s actually just a really average witbier. Fresh and fruity. Slightly over-carbonated. Drinkable but nothing special.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cloudy, dark golden pour. Thin, persistent foam. Mild spicy nose with touches of fruit. Slightly grassy, but overall less sour and barnyard than expected. A little on the tidy side.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice styrofoam head, a bit wet, gold body. Orange juice, sugar, pineapple on the nose. Really good intelligent balance of sweet hops with hazelnut and mango hints. Good, a little sweet but in a well made way.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A decent but unbalanced saison with a ton of floral and yeast character. Bright and citrus notes with a pinch of pine hop and a noble grassy note. Effervescent and heady with a golden straw body. Refreshing and crisp with a light pepper note

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: hazy pale gold with one finger of rocky ivory head, good retention and lacing. (4/5) Aroma: lemon zest, banana, light dry funky hay. (7/10) Taste: moderate-low sweet, mild bitter, light funky tart. (7/10) Palate: medium-light body, moderate carbonation, drying finish. (3/5)
Decent saison. Some fruity esters were not quite what I expected, but otherwise a pleasant example of the style. (14/20)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at local nectar dispensary.
Appearance: A murky, deep straw glow reminiscent of an orange hued late afternoon sun. The foam retention appeared tenuous.
Aroma: A wandering effervescence of banana esters and clove phenols. The anticipated barnyard spirit, however, was haunting cups elsewhere.
Taste: The earliest stage of ingestion passed like sweetened chlorine followed by an acceptable alcholic petting. The sip then transitioned into a soft whipping of polished leather smoothed by bubblegum and stone. A muffled lemon tang lightly numbed the lips while within a candied sweetness merged with a shadowed sourness to complete the consumption.
Palate: A neither prickly nor indifferent carbonation. In all actuality quite a creamy feel.
Overall: The booziness seems a tad strong, detrimentally masking the hay of the farmhouse. I do like the lingering tart-sweetness, however.
