Best beer in Edinbrugh. Aroma is spicey malts and peppery hops. Taste is rich and spicey off the malt, well balanced by floural and peppery hops, super drinkable.

Cask (gravity dispense), Cambridge Beer Festival, May 2006. Chestnut brown colour. Slightly creamy, whisky malt type aroma that reminded me a little of that horrid McGregor stuff from Belgium. And there’s a big whiff of diacetyl too, which I’m guessing wasn’t intentional, so I suppose the conditioning may be to blame. Those elements combined to produce a rather unpleasant aroma. Better (but dull) on the palate, with some sweet malt and no hop presence to speak of. Not my thing at all, but, as joeh says, it’s drinkable.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 dnas2 (705) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - MAY 25, 2006
Cambridge Beer Festival (Gravity). Amber-brown with no head, just a faint scum on top. Very strong caramel aromas in the nose, smoked nuts in the mouth. Let down by a chlorine aftertaste. Not at all bitter, thick and still on the palate.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Cambridge BF. A dark brown coloured beer with lots of diacetyl in the aroma together with a touch of whisky malt. The taste has diacetyl again with some green apple and straw. Not too good.

Cask at Cambridge Beer Festival 2006. Another not so good beer from this brewer. Horrible buttery aroma. The taste is nicer, a sort of dull malty sweetness. It’s boring, but at least it’s drinkable.
