Bottle. Clear amber with a huge offwhite head. Milk chocolate aroma with a hint of perfumy hops. Sweet, then more chocolate flavours, ending on a spicy note. Good dry finish. Quite bold mix of chocolate sweetness and perfumy hop bitterness.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 imdownthepub (7491) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - SEP 28, 2006
Bottle conditioned, 500ml. Brown orange colour with heavy head. Better than the previous Fox Bottle conditioned beers I have had recently, probably because it is a heavier beer. A little sucrose at the beginning with some vanilla butterscotch note, then a grainy malt. Shortish, sweet finish with perfumed hop. Reasonable.

I don’t really like giving numbered ratings, so I’ve just givena bit of an average of ready-posted reviews so as to not mess-up the averages. I was up in Norfolk last week, collecting a batch of Fox beers, and had a little look around the brewery. The fact that the brewery is so small is incredible. Fox beers are fantastic, and full of layers of flavours. I get the impression that the good fellas at Fox are increibly hard working. Anyway - Fresh as a Daisy... I tried this, bottle conditioned, after a long long day in Norfolk, and it was the perfect tonic. Not sure if my head was in a bit of a tired state, but I had huge gusts of Kinder-egg malty flavours from the initial mouthfull, from which soft hop flavours gradually matured. Definitely a beer that I will be hunting down again. (Although I’d have to leave the hounds and my red riding-coat at home).
4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 StueyD (666) - Heacham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND - FEB 27, 2006
A deep orange-brown coloured beer with little head. The nose is slightly sweet and perfumed, very hoppy with hints of roses and Turkish Delight. The taste is slightly sweet to begin with but this is followed by a distinctly floral hop flavour that balances the aftertaste. Made using freshly picked First Gold hops from the pub garden. Tasted at The Fox & Hounds, 18.11.05

Bottle conditioned. Amber, brown with an off-white head. Aromas are light chocolate malts, yeast and citrus with hops spices. Flavours are initially malty, followed by lemon and spices. Grapefruit bitterness on the finish. Pretty decent.
