COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The blend of allspice, cinnamon, orange zest, and cloves took us a while to nail down, but it was worth the effort. This one really does have to be tasted - and smelled - to be believed. The alcohol content is 11%, the mead was aged with oak, and the mead is sweet but very drinkable due to the balance of the spice. Our Spiced Mead is wonderful just by itself as you sit in a rocking chair by the fire or out on the deck watching the sun go down. But if you want to pair it with some food, try apple pie!

On tap at Barley's Taproom in Asheville, NC. The overwhelming flavor of chai spices is actually quite delicious on top of still-discernible honey, but it's very thin -- not at all syrupy. Actually pretty nice to tipple on a hot spring day, but not necessarily the sign of a masterful mead. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks Richmond crew! transparent gold, no head. Overly spiced Cinnamon, lightly stinging, also a bit floral and hot. Flavor is similar, not as floral but sill over spiced, light honey. Thinness doesn’t help. I prefer when ciders and meads are soft, but this isn’t.

750 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market Fair Lakes and shared at the 13th Richmond Gathering. Pours a clear pale amber color. Aroma of overwhelming spices. Primarily cinnamon, allspice, a bit of citrus, and honey shows up to the party a it later. . The taste is also overwhelming spices. Cinnamon mostly. Almost hot. Very faint hints of honey and vanilla. Overpowered completely, as their other meads are. These guys need to learn to tone it back.

Appearance: Pours out a clear body with only a subtle hint of orange-gold coloring to it. Smell: There’s a bit of honey under there, but, for the most part, it’s a nose of spices with the cinnamon leading the pack, though each listed on the label is certainly discernible. Taste: Modestly sweet subtle taste of honey then, BAM in comes those piquant spices. As with the nose, cinnamon from the blend is, for me, the most prominent. Hint of citrus fruitiness from the orange peel. Spicy-sweet finish. Mouthfeel: Relatively light-bodied, a bit wine-like. Drinkability: A pleasant mead! I’m diggin’ those spices.
