This one I like right along with Beamish and Murphys. Best of Fox River thus far.

On tap at the Oshkosh brewpub, pours black with an off-white head. Aroma is espresso, with a milky espresso taste. All in all a good stout.

Some roast aroma. Dark coloured fruity and a little rich on the palate with a crisp and slightly dry finish.

Bottle: Dark pour with a strong coffee and burnt aroma. Had an overwhelming burnt flavor with light chocolate. Body was ultra thin. Definitely needs more tweeking for flavor and body.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from the Oshkosh brewery/brewpub location. Pours a dark cola brown brew with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and tan ring. Aroma of dark roasted malt, some coffee and chocolate character with a touch of molasses. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with some thin flavors of dark roasted malt, coffee/chocolate and a touch of citrus. Finish is slightly watery, semi-sweet with a light dark malt aftertaste.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 prosqtor (408) - Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 4, 2007
Just barely missed on this one. Not sure if it’s a sweet or dry stout, because as it warmed it became much sweeter -- from the tap at the brewpub.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jewedekind (450) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - APR 27, 2007
A light brown stout is never a good sign. Very dry. Very thin. Not much character. Just a brown beer. Not drain material, but not what it is supposed to be.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bockyhorsey (2603) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - AUG 2, 2006
Bottle. Malt sweetness and coffee for aroma. Black body with tan head and some lacing. Good flavor mix of roasted coffee and some creamy chocolate flavor. Best one from the selection of bottles they had while I was there
3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 DavidP (1745) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 17, 2005
Bottle. Black body with a medium small-bubbled tan head. Suprisingly big malty aroma milk chocoate, sipced rum, coffee roast all with a smokey flair. Joel’s description of "chocolate custard" is quite accurate. Thin mouthfeel. This beer all aroma: the flavor is thin and dry consisting mostly of dry coffee bean and baker’s chocoate. A bitter leafienss appears in the finish.
