3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, USA - MAR 29, 2008
On draught at the northern Appleton brewpub location, pours a clear dark copper amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and white ring with some spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, some citrus zest hop character, touch of white pepper and toffee. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, toffee and some orange zest. Finish is smooth, with a light aftertaste of caramel and light hop bitterness. A little sweeter than the regular nut brown ale.

Thanks to Bob for the bottle! Poured medium reddish-brown and almost still, with no head to be resuscitated. The flavor was supa-sweet with candied caramel, molasses, and maple as the primary characteristics.. mild earth around.. non-offensive, but too sweet to be taken very seriously. The flavor was sweet as well, picking up some fine earthy bitterness to contrast the caramel at the core.. plenty of grainy sugars stuck on the finish. Medium-bodied on the palate, actually picking up a decent amount of bitterness as it warmed up.. OK balance but it could’ve used some rolling carbonation. This was aiight.

Rudy umber color with a smallish beige head. Lightly earthy dark caramel aromas. Fairly clean in taste with out much aside from the malt. Caramel malt with a touch of generic bitterness that comes in the middle. Finish dry and slightly nutty.
