3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - DEC 14, 2010
Bottle, Beers of Advent Day 14. Burgundy with no head. Good nutty aroma with a rub of coal and chocolate. Flat but with decent, creamy nut notes, soapy hop, decaying leaf matter, husky bitterness. Not getting any old ale; brown Smartie sweetness, soap, hint of roast like a US brown ale, maybe. Alright.
2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Coxy (41) - Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 29, 2009
Aroma: Malty with very subtle caramel. Appearance: Lovely dark roasted black colour, no carbonation, a creamy coloured, and foamy head. Taste: Fairly sweet and malty/caramel with a smokey light nutty end. Palate: Light to start, not as dark and creamy as you’d expect. Fairly bitter finish. Overall: Not a bad beer with similarities to Titantic Stout. Needs bit more of a bite to hold it’s Christmas ale down. Would preferred bit of a spice. Couldn’t detect too much of the Hazelnut base.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ungstrup (23984) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 3, 2009
Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of caramel and medium notes of malt, but also a light acidity. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel combined with a light burnt edge and light notes of chocolate, leading to a dry bitter and roasted finish. Thanks fonefan for sharing.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a medium tan head. Tart berries and chocolate nose, strengthened in the mouth. There is a subtle nutty bitterness that can probably be attributed to the hazelnuts. Not bad.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Alphadelic (1483) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 20, 2008
Bottle:
Intense dark brown with little or no head. Sweet, dark malts and nuts with hints of tobacco. A little watery but awfully smooth. Definite coffee flavour and light hints of toasted nuts. A little metallic though. A tang in the aftertaste which is quite pleasant. A great warming effect which is perfect for winter. As Christmas ales go this steers clear of the unfortunate novelty some go in for which makes it eminently drinkable, even for a long session.
