COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A lightly fruity straw-colored ale brewed in the style of a German "Kolsch" beer.

Cask (gravity) at GBBF 2009, Day 1. Very pale straw colour. Unfortunately the aroma was dominated by a heavy diacetyl taint which masked any other elements, particularly in a delicate Kolsch style (would not have guessed at Kolsch as the style). Diacetyl is less noticeable on the palate but there was rather a paucity of any defining character in the flavour. Maybe a hint of yeast and something ever so slightly sour. Thin, somewhat watery mouthfeel. I had assumed the cask had not survived the journey too well but some of the other ratings, from closer to its home, are not too complementary either. If anything it seemed to me that this was aimed in the same direction as some of "Light" offerings that many US brewpubs feel compelled to produce. I’m prepared to give it a second chance but I certainly can’t say I enjoyed it too much on this showing.

Almost no aroma. Clear with a very thin head. High carbonation leaves tounge tingling at the finish. Not very interesting overall.

Draught at O’Neills, Dublin. Clear pale golden, minimal head. Fruity nose with sligh tspicy hops. Light bodied with clean, spritzy mouthfeel. Slight salty bitterness. A straightforward beer, more in line with the commercial examples of kölsch than the more traditional ones.

Draft @ O’Neills, Dublin.

Crystal clear gold coloured body with a large white head and tons of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Aroma of malt, soap and clean fresh hops. Light-bodied; Mild malty flavour showing some yeast, a bit of sugars and a nice drying taste. Aftertaste shows some sugars, a dash of light german hops and a maltiness which lasts on the palate. Overall, a nice beer to try in Ireland, but not an amazing beer. Stick with Galway Hooker if you only get one here. I sampled this pint on draught at the Bull & Castle in Central Dublin, Republic of Ireland on 20-February-2009.

Cask Stillage at the GBBF, Earl’s Court 04/08/2009 Slight diacetyl. Golden coloured hoppy and fruity with a little dryness in a crisp and bitter malt finish.
