UPDATED: AUG 17, 2014 Thanks Jeff Russell for hauling this 1L bottle (1793/1900) back from Ireland and sharing with all at the gathering and for allowing me the opportunity to drink this for rating #6000... Near opaque with minimal head or lace. Big whiskey and oak at first supported with smooth chocolate, roast and char. Really smooth yet nicely tannic and earthy mouth feel. Nicely balanced treat and glad to have been the 1st American to rate it while in America.

1 litre bottle to share. Dark brown, verging on black pour, thin tan head. Coffee, milk chocolate, oak, wood, earth and a little smoke in the aroma. Lots of coffee and chocolate, slight hint of the whiskey in the flavour. Very light bodied, disappointingly so. Finish is long and trending toward the sweet. Very nice.

This is a powerful stout, nice porter/stout feel, with a nice kick from the jameson barrels. A great warming stout without the heaviness of some creamier stouts. enjoyed every drop. Nice spicey warm after taste
look forward to more offerings from the Franciscan well.
