Red amber with a foamy white head, great lacing. Bread, sweet toasted malt and touches of caramel in the aroma. Flavour follows the nose. Slick mouthfeel, very robust. Some nice hop bitterness in the finish. A great imagining of Irish Red Ale.

Pint at the bull & Castle in Dublin. Classic irish red ale. Red amber ale. Medium size white head. I recommend

Sample at the brewpub. This brew is a reddish-amber color with a medium fluffy off-white head that dissipates slowly to a film. Patchy lacing. The aroma is malty with some caramel and hop notes. Light body with flavors of sweet caramel malt and floral hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Cask@The Black Sheep, Dublin Hazy deep red-amber with orange and mango notes on the nose. Sticky malt reminiscent of 5AM saint, but with a much lower bitterness and little of the hop resins. Nevertheless a better Irish Red than most I’ve tried.

Cask at Hilden Fest 2012 - 25/08/12. Slightly cloudy amber red with a thin off-white head. Sweet malt aroma, fudge, butterscotch and hops on the nose. Tastes of caramel, sweet malts, sweet candyfloss, light fruit tones and peach. Medium bodied with a good level of carbonation. Moderate bitter finish with a lttle fruity aftertaste.

Draught, half a pint. Clear deep amber color with small beige head and soft carbonation. Caramel malt and fruity hops aroma. Taste of sweet caramel and toffee malt with dried fruits note and abrupt bitter finish. Full body, creamy texture and moderate carbonation in palate. Very good one, but a bit too sweet...

pours in true Cork fashion rebel ruby red with a dark tangerine hue. Great off white tight frothy head with good lacing. Low carbonation Smell of mild toasted hops and barley, floral with light citrus orange tones and caramel in the background. Taste is excellent, Hops, barley and malt, hint of dark chocolate and spiced port, well balanced and sits well on the tongue, good length with some sweetness in the finish. Got mine at Bradley’s North Main St. too. GET SOME NOW!

Outstanding example of what an Irish red ale should be. Bursting with malt and caramel . For a beer of such % the flavor is excellent. Even tho they brewed this for many years its the first time they bottled it. Got mine in Bradley’s north main street cork.

this is a well balanced ale.very clear with a hint of caramel in the after taste. I would say the best Irish red ale on the market. Had it in the bull and castle under the name of castle red. Barman said they only name it differently in this bar and is known as rebel red everywhere else. i did read however that they will be exporting it shortly to Amercia where it will be rebranded as franciscan red. something to do with another brewery having the rights to the name rebel.

Aroma is one of caramel and toast, very pleasant. Reddish appearance with nice lacey head. Taste is amazing, caramel notes, very well balanced. Medium bodied, one of the nicest irish reds i have tryed.

Cask conditioned at The Black Sheep, Dublin. Deep red with small white frothy head, plenty of lacing. Aroma full of rich almost nutty malt and earthy English hops. Taste full of depth, very full mouthfeel with a lovely degree of earthy hop bitterness, thick caramel malt, nutty notes too. A solid Irish red.
