Outstanding example of what an Irish red ale should be. Bursting with malt and caramel . For a beer of such % the flavor is excellent. Even tho they brewed this for many years its the first time they bottled it. Got mine in Bradley’s north main street cork.

this is a well balanced ale.very clear with a hint of caramel in the after taste. I would say the best Irish red ale on the market. Had it in the bull and castle under the name of castle red. Barman said they only name it differently in this bar and is known as rebel red everywhere else. i did read however that they will be exporting it shortly to Amercia where it will be rebranded as franciscan red. something to do with another brewery having the rights to the name rebel.

330ml Bottle from Reilly’s (Lisnaskea):
This one was a pretty average beer in truth and not really doing anything to dispel my initial belief that this one doesn’t really count as a craft beer. Whilst the beer definitely wasn’t a bad one, it didn’t do much to impress either and seemed to be missing that spark to get me excited about it. Not all that complex a beer, the beer seemed a little sweet but it remained drinkable throughout at least

Keg at Norseman Temple Bar, Dublin. It pours a clean amber color with a small pff-white head. Aroma is medium malty and lightly hoppy with notes of caramel and pine. Taste is medium sweet with notes of caramel, dried leaves, earth, resin. Light bodied with good carbonation. Overall, decent

Pint. Pours a deep burnt red with a thick foamy white head. Light and refreshing with no great strength. Pleasant and balanced with some mild sweetness.

Geruch nach biscuit malz und herbem Hopfen. Geschmack leicht wässrig, aber ausgewogen. Sehr Lecker, leicht buttrig im Nachgeschmack.

draught pint at Courtneys in Killarney. Pours reddish-brown with white head. Nothing much from the aroma - probably too cold from the tap. Taste - caramel, and malt. medium mouthfeel - not too carbonated. Good version of the irish red

Good example of an irish red ale. Loads of cream I’m the texture and lots of biscuit and red fruit in the beginning and end.

Bottle from Tesco, consumed at home. Reddish-brown, not a lot of head or lacing. Smells of cheap cherry cola, chestnut, candy sugar. Taste is sweet like forest fruit and caramel. Short finish. Decent body and mouthfeel. Not particularly exciting.
