3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pulled one of the first bottles at the pub. I bought a bunch of these as much to reuse the bottles for homebrew as to drink the beer inside. A high octane Irish stout. Dry with a touch of sweetness, roasty, chocolate, thin body.

Pours dark brown with tan head that soon collapses. Slightly meaty nose, not much else. Dry with roasted barley, vanilla and coffee. Astringent chicory finish

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a rich unctuous inky black topped with a brown head which lingers for the duration. The aroma is heft with chocolate and coffee, in the background is the funky aroma that I always associate with Fuggles. Taste is again chocolate and coffee, but with a nice touch of booze and enough hop bite to make it not too cloying. A seriously delicious brew.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Decent offering from The Franciscan Well, impressively flavoursome and full bodied for its ABV. Very pretty, pours deep black with a large smooth brown head. Coffee and oak aroma that is only slightly sweet. Rounded dry flavour, burnt coffee and long oak finish. Big body and soft texture.
