One of their better beers. Deep amber brown color with a small white head. Aroma was slightly sweet and malty. Medium-weight palate with low carbonation. Pretty smooth. Robust flavor with caramel and roasted malts. The hops bitterness was low. Good beer.

Poured a pretty deep russet. Medium head. Nose of sweet malt in a good way. In the mouth it is a tiny bit thin but the flavours of mixing malts is nice.

a slightly different take on an amber .. deep tawny .. . head is quite good, as is the lacing .. . my sandwiches are burning .. . medium grain, harsh sweetness, and pretzel crust .. . easy mouth .. . not a bad amber at all, but different- not exactly sure why, just different .. . .

On tap at BTBF 2014. Amber in color with an average sized off-white head. Aroma is of malt, grain and leaves. Taste is of grain, woody hops and toffee.

On tap at the Gaylord Texan resort. Pours a clear amber red color with a slight off white head. Not much aroma, but what is present is mostly malts, caramel and slightly sweet. Taste was watery, again with the caramel malts, and a slight bitter hop character.

On tap at Square Burger. Dark amber with a white head. Aroma is toffee and nutty with some grass. Flavor is heavy on the toffee with some earth and grass from the hops. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Easy to drink.

Tap at the Gaylord. The look is light brown on color, fluffy white head, and cleanish. The smell is caramel, malt, meaty, hops, and floral. The taste is sweet, malts, slight hops, caramel, and ok.

On tap at sports bar in the Gaylord Texan. It’s called Franconia Big Red here, but an email to Franconia confirmed this is an alias. The beer arrives in a frosted mug with so much ice on the sides that I have to wait to find out that this beer has a nice reddish hue. I can tell right away that the head is a little undersized, but it’s ok. Aromas are sugary, nutty and slightly earthy and (oddly enough) become more pronounced as the beer warms. Flavor is nice, but it’s more like a red ale than what I would consider an amber... Still, it has a nice toffee sweetness that balances against a little hop bitterness and the earthy/nutty notes I picked up on in the nose. Decently drinkable.

Tap at the brewery. Deep amber pour with a cream head. Nose is caramel, toffee, bread, and light dough. Very smooth on the palate, flavors are heavy on the dough and caramel, nice finish.
