(draught at Dallas Gingerman) clear rich amber/ruby with ring of creamy tan bubbles. Nose of raisin bread, freshly milled grain, and other dark fruit. Taste of raisin, grainy bread, decent sweet malt bite, and toasty. Medium to thin creamy body with tingly carbonation. Long duration. Earlier Rating: 11/3/2009 Total Score: 3.7 (draught) pours clearish brown with ruby hints and nice creamy head. Nose of toasted grain, chocolate and dark fruit. Taste is roasted grains with nice sweet component, unsweetened chocolate that’s not bitter and a creamy toasted finish. This stuff is really good and highly drinkable as it has no off flavors. Franconias best yet.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 crajun (391) - , Texas, USA - NOV 17, 2011
draft at gingerman plano - new style for me; DAMN that was good - dark pour with ruby edges taste was malty sweet; very silky 4 on palate and call me crazy but there was a chalky chocolate flavor at end - had to ask if this was a bock or stout? actually seemed like a cross between the two. note to self: drink more Fanconia...

Brown and cloudy with a good head. Taste is very smooth with toasted malt and not much bitterness. I went back for more over this and it may be my fave Franconia brew.
