Fratto (670), Arlington, Texas, USA Nov 5, 2009 On tap at the Franconia Brewery. Dark pour with a creamy brown head. I can’t smell anything. Taste isn’t very pleasant, but kinda weak. Roasted malts and maybe some chocolate. thirdeye11 (403), Texas, USA Jul 26, 2009 (Draught) pours very dark even for a dunkel with nice light tan head and big oily bubbles. Nose is very faint on this one, I’m getting some lightly toasted malts. Taste has more flavor, semi-sweet chocolate and creamy but it’s watery and kind of disappoints. An odd bitter in the finish and undercarbonated in my opinion. A solid beer but nothing more I can say about it. Cavie (1317), Fort Worth, Texas, USA May 20, 2009 Clear dark rose color. Creamy head that sits. Very little aroma to speak of. Creamy mouthfeel with a restrained taste. Roasted malts are the main thing tasted but it remains mostly tasteless. Slight bittering finish but still doesn’t go anywhere. I was highly disappointed with this one. Not much happening here at all. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Apr 6, 2009 Pours medium brownish with a small head. Smell was a bit roasty, nutty, and light chcolate. Taste was mildly chocolatey with caramel a pretty smooth body. Earthy, perhaps a bit of yeast, but not a ton of flavor to it. Somewhat mild and had a thinnish body and normal to light carbonation. Not bad, but unexciting, I thought. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Mar 16, 2009 had in my first flight @ the FLying Saucer on my birthday celebration (afew months after funny enough) ... light chewy chocolate in the nose .. great rustic feel ... light yet chocolaty ... a delightful dunkel, earthy as heck.. i liked it and i don’t like dunkels... graham515 (420), Houston, Texas, USA Mar 5, 2009 Pours a dark brown/black in color with an off white head. Aroma is of coffee grounds. Flavor is dominated by a chocolate/coffee malt profile. Lightly hopped, but very balanced. My first try from this brewery, hopefully more to come in the future. jujubeast6000 (772), Houston, Texas, USA Mar 3, 2009 Reviewed 3/2/2009 (Tap @ Flying Saucer, Houston, TX):
Pours a very dark brown colored body, small tan-white head, diminishing. Somewhat coffee effervescent aroma. But very weak. Somehat watery taste, Strong ground coffee taste. Tastes like a coffee - beer. Somewhat carbonated. Some mlk chocolate notes. Nice chocolately aflertaste as it warms up. Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA Feb 23, 2009 Draught > Flying Saucer. OK but not great. Lots of chocolate flavor and a OK body on this one. Might help if this one were a tad bigger.
