UPDATED: OCT 26, 2009 On tap at Franconia Brewery. Pours a very nice looking dark brown with red hues and thick, creamy tan head. Aroma of rich malt and honey, caramel and faint toast. Flavor is the exactly the same. Mouth feel is medium-heavy body, a little creamy & silky, with medium carbonation. Overall, a warming, tasty treat from Franconia! Very tasty and different.

On tap at the Gingerman in Dallas. Beer pours dark brown with a head that is light tan/beige. The aroma is caramel and toffee, with a little bit of dark fruit as well. The flavor follows the aroma, with caramel malts, roasted malts and a little chocolate flavor. The mouthfeel is medium thickness and is very creamy. A very good beer, the best I have had from Franconia. This is an extremely drinkable, flavorful bock.

draft at gingerman plano - new style for me; DAMN that was good - dark pour with ruby edges taste was malty sweet; very silky 4 on palate and call me crazy but there was a chalky chocolate flavor at end - had to ask if this was a bock or stout? actually seemed like a cross between the two. note to self: drink more Fanconia...

Enjoyed at the monthly beer dinner at The Holy Grail in Plano, TX. Dark brown pour with a thick foamy head. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is creamy, with notes of brown sugar and dark fruits. One of Franconia’s better offerings.

Sweet malt nose. Perhaps a little bit too sweet in the mouth, but a texture that is silky and divine.
