   AROMA 5/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 10/20
5000 (6300) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JAN 9, 2014
Bottle:   Yellowish straw, moderate haze, thin sudsy white head, little lacing.   Muted straw/hay on the nose, a bit sweet, also some musty basement or barnish notes.   Real soft.   Grassy start, a smidgen of sweet vinegar which is odd.   Seems more of aPale Lager than a Kolsch.   Not all that crisp.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Almost watery, or nearing that side I should say.   Clean finish, falls off quickly, leaving only a soft wheaty like grass/straw/hay profile.   As I smack my lips it gets a little mealy.   Thanks Bill!

drjay44 (2867) - Salida, Colorado, USA - DEC 23, 2013
12 oz. sediment laden bottle. Pours an enormous, fluffy, well retained white head with extensive lacing, over a very slightly hazy, yellow (SRM 3) body.....nose is minimal malts, no hops, light apple....taste is light cereal, hints of sweet apple, light pepper phenolics, mild bitterness.....mouth feel light, carbonation high, minimal acid. This particular bottle is off, possibly infected and was probably improperly stored. It lacks the necessary clarity, and the peppery phenolics are totally inappropriate in this delicate style. thome50 (1186) - Morro Bay via Orange County, California, USA - DEC 3, 2013
Bottle. Pours a super hazy, glowing orange with no head. Carb is lacking to say the least. Aroma is slight grass and some lemon and malt. Taste is malt and some odd bread and a semi dry finish.

roxtersoxter (358) - McKinney, Texas, USA - NOV 21, 2013
Pours light golf with very small white head. Aroma of grain with slight hint of citrus. Taste of oats and slight zest. There are some complex flavors here but not really my style of beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 5/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 5/5   OVERALL 8/20
Beerenberger (1561) - Fischer, Texas, USA - NOV 4, 2013
The aroma is very grainy along with some hints of fruit. A slightly hazy light golden pour with virtually no head, only a white ring, and minimal ringed lacing. The taste is malt forward and mildly sweet. Grain, a bit of a charactistic sulfur, and bread flavors predominate. A hops presence is not detected. Medium-light body and medium carbonation. Smooth crisp mouthfeel. Overall, while there are a lot of flavors going on here, which I usually appreciate, the jury is still out on this beer.

brystmar (1306) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 11, 2013
Straw color with orange hues shining through. Delicate white head & lace perch atop the liquid with solid retention.

Nose is sweet grain, slightly vinous. Simple, yet nice. Palate brings crisp malts and a kiss of hops in the middle alongside the grainy sweetness. Finishes ever so mildly sweet and quite refreshing.
< br/> A solid example of the style! This is the first time I’ve said that about a Franconia brew, as their Hef & Dunkel are both disastrous. I can safely say this is the best beer I’ve had from them yet.

12 oz bottle. From Rosebud butternuts. Thanks Eric!
Cloudy pale yellow colour with a tiny white head. Grainy malt, mild hops and a touch of yeast in the aroma. The flavour is grassy hops and grainy malt. Very soft carbonation.

Dogbrick (9118) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 27, 2013
Sample at Ginger Man in Houston. Clear straw color with a medium fluffy white head that recedes gradually. Sticky small patches of lace. Aroma of grassy hops, malt and wood. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, earthy malt and slight oak. The finish is mildly bitter with a grassy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Location: Draft at Ginger Man - Houston, 7/23/13

Aroma: This nose is pretty simple, but solid, made up of grainy malts and grassy hops
Appearance: The pour is a clear gold color, with a lasting white head and sticky lace
Flavor: It has a clean and lightly sweet taste, it is lightly bitter as well
Palate: It has a light-medium body, and a clean and easy drinking mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This was a quite tasty, light, and easy drinking Kolsch. In this style it is pretty much right on for what I’m looking for.
