3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I must be careful because this is not one of my favorite styles and I want to give it a fair rating. As far as Kolsch goes, it’s very good and perfect for summer drinking. Aroma was grassy but not too strong. The color was clear golden. The mouthfeel was easy and light. The taste was pleasant with a good balance of flavors. I couldn’t pull out anything distinct though. I don’t understand why light beer drinkers don’t switch to something like this.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: MAY 4, 2012 On tap at West End Pub in Dallas. Faint aroma of resin & herbs. Ugly piss yellow color. Tasted like watery floral cereal. Overall nothing special, but I’m also not a big fan of this style, so take my review with a grain of salt

Nice sourdough breadiness. Some floral notes and nice crisp finish. More depth than other domestic kolschs I have tried.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at Ginger Man Houston. Clear yellow with a good sized white head. Mild aroma of grass, bread and light citrus. Decent flavor without being standout; lightly sweet bready malt with some floral and citrus elements. Light medium bodied, easy drinking and refreshing without being watery. Definitely works as a session type beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewery. The beer pours a golden yellow color with a white head. The aroma is wheat and grain with some lemon and grass notes. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of wheat with some lemon and grape notes. There is a little bit of grass and earth from the hops, but they contribute basically no bitterness. Light and refreshing, this is a very easy beer to drink. Medium carbonation. A great beer for a hot summer day.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at brewery, poured by Swalden.
Pours a deep, rich mustard orange with an engaging aroma of dewy grass, freshly-fallen autumn leaves, and floral bread. Flavor is a floral/sweet hoppy bread with light toast around the edges. Tingly and lingering on the tongue. Fantastic kolsch!

Out of their 200 year old barrel @ the Addison Flying Saucer.
Clear yellow pour with a nice amount of white head. Aromas of grain, fresh cut grass, some citrus, and wood from the barrel. Flavor is woody as well with more citrus, spice, and grass. Not bad - I typically don’t care for beers in this style.
