3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ilovedarkbeer (2000) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 31, 2009
On tap. Nose is corn, resin, wheat, and dirt, and metal but it is really not as bad as it sounds. Taste is earthy and slightly sweet or salty, I am not sure, but a bit of fruity hops or maybe its the yeast. This beer is kind of all over the place but does make me raise an eyebrow. Overall the flavors don’t really mesh and I am left wanting much more.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 legion242 (1999) - Richardson, Texas, USA - MAR 29, 2009
A very nice example of the style. Other American attempts have fallen short, but this one is really good.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BMan1113VR (7379) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAR 25, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2009 Tap. Pour a clear gold with a lasting white head. Reasonable lace to. Aroma of grain and a few fruity esters. Also a blast of CO2 spritziness. Taste is grainy with a bit of dry apple, and a couple fruity esters that seem common to the yeast Franconia uses. Watery and fizzy. As far as kolschs go, this is pretty good.
