On tap at the Holy Grail Pub.
The beer pours a clear, golden orange color with a white head. The aroma is wheat with some earthy hops as well as some green grape notes. The flavor is more of the same. The bread and wheat from the grain bill come through nicely and there is some grassy and spicy hop notes. The grapes from the aroma are also present in the flavor. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hopscotch (8215) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 7, 2010
Hand-bottle (pressurized)… The Grolsch bottle’s top popped off with a “BANG!” just like a pistol went off. I’m thinking this is gonna taste pretty darned fresh. Clear, brilliant amber lager with a mid-sized, fluffy, white head. Excellent retention. The aroma is restrained until warmed, and then caramel and rich, toasted malts come forth in a big way. Medium-bodied with tickling carbonation. The flavor is well-balanced and refreshing, but not without its lager version of rich caramel and toasted malt decadence that carries over into a lightly bitter, toasted grain finish. I’ve tried several true Franconia lagers, a couple of them Marzens, and this is true to style. Not flashy, but very classy. I’m looking forward to sharing the other two bottles with the Orlando crew. Thanks to ericandersnavy for the hand-bottle!
