UPDATED: SEP 17, 2005 Another excellent live one! I am never let down by Franconia Notch and I just about shit my pants when I see what beers are rated above it on this site. But I suppose they cater to people of higher taste who are less inclined to give good scores. Anyway this is a great imperial stout with a thick tan head that laces beautifully down the glass riding on top of a dark brown almost opaque stout that lets just enough light through to show off it’s amber red tones. The aroma is of chocolate and sweet italian roast espresso with some slight toasted bread and rich malt notes. The flavor followed the aroma’s lead perfectly with a creamy mouthfeel to boot. I wish I could get this stout in Ohio. Perhaps someday.

2005 version- Oatmeal Stout. Dark brown/black with ruby highlights and a thin creamy tan head.Aroma of chocolate,roasted malt and fruit. Flavor is slightly sweet,chocolate and mild coffee roast. Body is very creamy with a mild slickness.
