Bottle. Not bad, caramelly/nutty, with some brown sugar sweetness. Some woody dryness in the finish and a little fizzy. It was drinkable, but didn’t quite work.

The bottle poured a crystal clear dark brown liquid with a modest bubbly white head that lasted reasonably long leaving good lacing on the glass. The first impression aromas are of cotton candy. Upon closer inspection the aromas of nutmeg, bread and nuts comes through. The flavor is a bit thin. The initial taste is of nuts with a rather dry astringent mouthfeel in the middle. The finish is dry and somewhat bitter but lasts well.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2005 This poured a nutty brown color with an impressive creamy head. The aroma is of roasted malt and burnt toast. Medium-bodied. It’s got a peppery, roasted malt flavor with a good balance of hops. It’s got a long, dry, spicy finish. Good drink.

Clear light brown with a small head. Decent lacing. Aromas of clean malt and a touch of earth. Flavors of nutty, slightly roasty malt with a dry, bitter finish. Some hop flavor, mostly a boatload of Munich malt. Easy drinking in a Pete’s Wicked kind of way. But costs considerably more. Hard to find Alts at a liquor store, so I will give credit for the attempt.

Bottled:
Fresh, light fruity aroma. Brown to bronze color, creamy head. Taste ist grainy, barley notes, bitter. Light metallic, some roasted malt notes. Reminds me on a bad pilsener or mass product.

Brown pour. Big off white head. Very nice lacing. Very clear. Malt and earth aroma with alcohol undertones. Light body. Easy to drink. Bitter taste that mirrors the aroma with a dry finish. Not bad, not excellent.
