3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - JUL 18, 2004
On tap at the Tugboat Brewery in Portland, OR. Pours a deep red with a small ivory head that leaves minor lacing. Aroma has a faint hopped nose, some sweetness from caramel. Taste starts earthy and malty with an a faint fruitiness. Taste ends with a decent bitterness to balance it out, but still fairly thin tasting.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Nexxus (261) - Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA - JUL 10, 2004
Clear medium dark amber with a medium diminishing frothy off white head. Herbal aroma of roast, toffee, nuts, spice, oak, and toast. Medium watery body with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very nutty, earthy flavor of caramel, roast, toast, oak, leather, and spice - anise, allspice. Interesting, delicate. Nicely malty with just enough hops to balance it out. Very good, although the flavor isn't as powerful as I expected.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JonMoore (1573) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 5, 2004
Bottle. Poured an amber brown colour, with a foamy, moderate head. Good lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel, malts and hops. Flavour is malty and hops, with a nice bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Slight carbonation. Pretty damned good.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 SledgeJr (3579) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JUN 29, 2004
On tap at the Crescent Moon Alehouse. Pours a deep amber, not brown. Rapidly diminishing head. Only a subtle aroma of nutty german lager. Body is far too light for my taste with not enough hops. Somewhat of a big disappointment I would say. This was the "Pint Nite" beer today, so it was served with a really cool blue cobalt pint glass which had gold Frankenheim logo print on it declaring this the be a brown lager. Too bad the beer wasn’t as good as the glass.

Clear, medium brown. Moderately malty, toasty, hoppy aroma. Light-medium feel. Toasty, malty (dark bread, caramel), nutty flavour w/ a dry, hoppy, somewhat earthy finish.
3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jgentgesdo (597) - Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA - JUN 23, 2004
Apple and cinnamon to the nose, long lasting off-white head with good lacing, hoppy with toasted caramel flavors, but a strange taste at the end that I cannot identify- earthy or leathery.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ESBFREAK (20) - tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 20, 2004
OK beer. Pretty dry finish, hoppier than I expected. A bit of a "burnt malt" aftetaste, which I didn’t particularly care for. Overall, not bad, but, I wouldn’t buy it again.
