small head, copper color. Hints of yeast and cereal/bread. thin body - medium effervesence. long sweet hop/nut finish. yes, maybe pilsener-ish. This is very nice but not nearly as alt-ty as maybe Blimp City Alt.

Brown color, caremel aroma, sweet malt and yeasty banana flavor.

Clear amber, big uneven head. Tough, leathery, yeasty aroma that appealed to me for no rational reason. The taste was malty and a bit too weak. Passable.

Not sure about choice of hops. Fair. Malty.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2004 Toffeeish malty aroma with a hint of bubblegum. Dark amber-brown color with medium off-white fizzy head. Mainly clean, toffeeish malt flavor. Overall sweet profile. Updated notes: it does having a firmly bitter finish, but its well rounded maltiness masked it the first time I had it. My more experienced palate said "Why didn't I taste all those hops the first time?". Surprisingly easy drinking beer.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2003 A great german alt beer. There is nothing better than a good german beer. It has a very clean taste to it and all flavors are present at the right amount.

Cereal/bready malt aroma, some tea. Darker copper color, very clear and effervescent. The carbonation is almost pilsner-like, in fact. Definite grainy texture, nice slightly roasted malty flavor. Hops taste European and are definitely there, balance and mouthfeel are actually fairly interesting. Dry, malty finish with a twinge of bitterness and some nuttiness. Great lacing. Worth a shot, I’d say. Would I be amiss in comparing this to the Abita Turbodog?

usually when i see copper this dark, it has verdigris on it too, but instead there’s a nice responsive ivory head (which i find much more appealing). modest nose requires that you stick your own nose in there pretty deep, and other than a square of kraft caramel-- maybe a wheat thin, i can’t find much. (now, my dog snorky claims there are over 60 delicate and nuanced fragrances in there, which is a remarkable feat of olfactory acuity-- especially for a guy who was rolling in dead catfish earlier today). brisk and dry, firm handshake on those hops. tho pretty functionally tasty, i gotta agree with legion that this beer caused no involuntary utterances of ’wow’. tho snorky did say ’woof’ in an oblique, insinuating way...

Am I the only one who thinks this tastes a bit like a hoppy pilsener? It’s a dry, crisp and rather bitter brew that does NOT have a head anything like the photo. It’s a quality beer IF you’re prepared for it’s lightness and bitterness.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2003 Toasty oat-grain aroma that reminded my tasting krewe of Alphabits or Honeycomb cereal. Dry and nutty grain flavor with dark syrup shadowing. The beer is a very cool bronze-brown color with a light beige head. Trailing and building bitter palate. A new favorite -- distinctive and high quality.
