Dark amber with moderate head. Aroma is kind of skunky. Palate is dark and a bit bitter, with hints of mineral.

500ml bottle, thanks to Beerhunter111! Pours clear chestnut brown with thin head. Nutty wood varnish aroma. Something not quite right about the taste here, stale hops maybe..? Thin & watery too. Two months before BBD but I think this has sadly reached the end of its life. Shame.

Classic Alt with pale beige, moussy, sticky, firm and stable head and deep, warm copper colour, clear with steady but calm sparkling. Dried fruits and lots of caramel- and nut-like malts in the nose, sundried tomatoes, passion fruit, hazelnuts, soap, leather, jute, rosewater, lavender, grass. Dryish fruitiness in the onset, medium carbonation, minerals, deep nutty maltiness, finishing in a long finish of spicy, peppery hops. Perfectly suitable as an introduction to this ancient style.

On draft in Düsseldorf. Clear copper brown pour with frothy white head. Aroma is nutty, really toasty, nice toasted malt, very clean, not much caramel. Taste is nutty, light vanilla notes, toasted grain, nice fresh toasted bread, very light sweetness, tasty. Palate is light and easy drinking, believe it or not this tied as my second best Alt all day.

A fine altbier with nicely balanced bitter and sweet. Very little aroma, though. Classic label, quite nice.

Draft in Düsseldorf. Pours another clear amber beer with a small white head on top. Aroma is malty, herbal nutty and earthy. Flavor is moderately sweet, some bitterness in the back and a nice malty sweet backbone. Decent balance, very good drinkability and another decent alt.

At a pub in Cloesfeld. Mild and bready smell. Taste of bread, toasted and roasted, caramel. Dry feeling. Feels unbalanced and hard to drink.

A decent alt that would make a good session drink. Malty and earthy with a lingering sweetness. Also good value for money.
