UPDATED: DEC 19, 2005 Blue bottle, copper color, big frothy head. Cake dough aroma. Slight hopbitter flavor with raisin and cake dough. Rather bland, but not too bad. Cannot be compared to the great Düsseldorf altbeers.
Brewery tap: Hopbitter, fruity flavor. I can only smell some orange. Light hopbitter finish. Delicate, but not comparable in quality to the more assertive Düsseldorf alts.

Bottle: Amber coloured with reddish tints, medium sized, quite stable fluffy off-white head; fruity-malty-caramelly nose with a tinge of molasses; mild sweetish-malty flavour with an illusion of roasted malt; slightly sweet-malty finish with a moderate bitter aftertaste: Drinkable, but pretty bland and boring, in comparison to the Düsseldorf micros.......

Rich chestnut brown colour. Pours with a sizeable off-white head, which persists for a short while. Sweet malt and treacle toffee aroma. Malt, caramel and fruit in the aroma, but mainly bitter, tending towards tart, with a metallic edge. Not bad, but not overly tasty. 500ml bottle from beersofeurope.co.uk. BBE 31 July 2004.

Herber und geringfüfig (später stärkerer) Malzantrunk. Die leicht süßliche Malzigkeit ist angenehm, meist aber zu trocken. Etwas getreidig, süffig, nett. Ein trinkbares Altbier ohne Besonderheiten. 7/9/9/9/9/9

Dark amber-brown colour with a rocky white head that fades to thin lace. Light floral aroma over some brown sugar, nuts, and yeast. Taste is also quite floral with some light caramel flavour and a fair amount of yeastiness. Light finish of Saaz (or similar) hops. My first of this style and it really reminds me of many lagers that I've had despite it's being an ale. Tasty.
