2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 szkot (100) - Minnesota, USA - JUN 6, 2005
Pours a light brown with a nice sized white head. Has some caramel and coffee qualities to the flavor. This beer is much better on tap.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 tseo (74) - GREECE - MAR 29, 2012
A good balance between bitter and malty, both in aroma and flavor. Better than average, and quite like an english bitter, in fact. Not memorable, but it still beats any mass market beer.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 g2bfry (49) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 1, 2008
UPDATED: JAN 31, 2009 The color is a deep cola brown with slight opacity. Tan head with a bit of lace. Not much intensity to the nose, yet it is distinctly malty. A smooth hoppy taste, followed by bready pretzel notes and a delayed dry, salty, malty finish. Medium body with a little extra carbonation.

Easy going, and light Alt. My first Alt-experience, but an extremely good one !!!

Although mass-produced by a large brewery, Frankenheim Alt is one of my favourite Altbiers around. This is due to the full, malty body, which is a not as sweet as e.g. Schumacher Alt. The taste is supported by a refreshingly carbonated mouthfeel.

Not bad, but not great either. No off flavors. I’m starting to think that I may not be a big fan of alt beer. I found this in bottle form in the States. Maybe I need to try it fresh on draft in Germany.
