Bottle. Poured an amber brown colour, with a foamy, moderate head. Good lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel, malts and hops. Flavour is malty and hops, with a nice bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Slight carbonation. Pretty damned good.

This is the first Alt I've ever had. At the local beverage store I was debating between chosing a hearty ale or a crisp pilsner. Decided to give this Alt a try instead as it is a nice compromise among the two. The head on the beer was impressive at the start but receded to fairly thin line unlike the british style ales where it generally persists longer. The beer leans more towards malty to dry rather than an overly hoppy taste. Very refreshing and smooth like a lager but not as bland. This is very drinkable brew that is somewhat let down by a lack of body. Will try again from time to time.

Apple and cinnamon to the nose, long lasting off-white head with good lacing, hoppy with toasted caramel flavors, but a strange taste at the end that I cannot identify- earthy or leathery.

Draught at the Frankenheim brewery tap next to the old brewery in Düsseldorf, on March 12, 2010
Clear beautiful dark copper to brown color, nice looking tan to yellowish brown head. Spicy, hoppy, sweet, fresh, fruity, red berries taste. Very taste and very refreshing. The fresh herbal hops really works as a qlench for your thirst. Weel needed after a cold fast walk. Medium to moussy mouthfeel. Fresh herbal, almost dry scent, hoppy. Medium high a bit dry bitterness. Some residual sweetenss somce in the back to work with the bitterness. Very well made, feels like it’s made for session drinking.

Red/brown, clear with a proud sustaining head. The aroma is sweet andmalty but a little too understated. The flavour is suprisingly complex, but also refreshing and clean. Initially dry with caremel and a spiciness that gains intensity towards the finish, which lingers quite long. Very tasty, I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did.

Great start, no great finish. First real German alt I’ve had, so there is nothing to compare it to. McNeills is better anyway! Had it at home and didn’t think much of it. Had it on a hike on a cold day and loved it.

Solid brown with no head. Slight aroma of sweet maltyness. Taste is clean and crispy sweet. Taste of sweet malt and grains, yeast like notes, but very light. Light body feel, a small malty sweet tang with a slight hop presence. Everything about this beer speaks drinkable. Very clean and malty sweet. Not bad at all.
