3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 onlyrocknroll (367) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JAN 25, 2008
Red/brown, clear with a proud sustaining head. The aroma is sweet andmalty but a little too understated. The flavour is suprisingly complex, but also refreshing and clean. Initially dry with caremel and a spiciness that gains intensity towards the finish, which lingers quite long. Very tasty, I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrRoss (646) - Delta, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 17, 2009
A unique, nice beer to drink. The head was fair, but colour was quite nice. Aroma and taste were both interesting and different from most other beers I’ve tried.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2003 A great german alt beer. There is nothing better than a good german beer. It has a very clean taste to it and all flavors are present at the right amount.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 NDmullet (208) - South Bend, Indiana, USA - JAN 17, 2003
Medium chestnut colored, thin head, lots of carbonation. Earthy malt and nutty aroma, like a cross between a dunkel and an English brown. Hazelnut and roasty malt flavors are quite distinctive, and intercepted by an adequate bitterness, touch of sourness. Light bodied, not as fizzy as expected, with a lingering finish. My first of the style, and I quite enjoyed it.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 PorterPounder (4114) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUL 20, 2003
Nice, clean light copper appearance - sparkles - very distinguished looking. Has a nice off-white head with a good bit of lacing. Very faint earthy aroma - had to sniff real hard to capture it! Has a bit of a bitter bite to the smooth bitterness with some underlying malt ones. Alt is a style I cannot grasp an appreciation of - but this is the best of the few that I have had - am determined to one day enjoy them!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 presario (4137) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - APR 28, 2003
Dark bronze colour. Nice thin creamy head and lacing. Not unpleasant hop aroma similar to aged grass clippings. Slighty sour at the start and moreso at the finish. Very similar to an above average brown.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dhurtubise (568) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 3, 2003
A dark amber altbier with a sturdy hop bitterness and good complex, clean malt character. Some light chocolate notes are perceptable.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 kujo9 (1085) - North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA - APR 4, 2003
Nice off white head on light brownish copper crystal clear liquid. lightly roasty malt aroma and a small whiff of chocolate and even a hint of smokiness. Very clean with no fruitiness in the aroma as it should be with a true alt. Roast and Munich malts seem to dominate flavor, but roast is not stout like, more of an enhancement to the overall flavor. There is a slight sourness from the dark grains that adds a little to the complexity. A little caramel in the background and finishes dry and nicely bitter w/a clean aftertaste. Body is light and moderately carbonated with a smooth creamy texture. A very drinkable session beer probably very good for newbies to try as opposed to B/M/C.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 nshack (13) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 10, 2003
Good malty aroma, nice head that disipated to a light skin of foam. The flavor is dominated by malt with sublte roasted notes. The bitterness is in balance but not as strong as I would have expected. Overall a very nice beer that is quaffable and rewarding.
