3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2005 Had this on tap at The Post in Auburn Hills. Pours a flat greyish-brown with some lighter browns on the edges. Big creamy off-white head. Aroma is lightly sweet of dark maple syrup with some very dry roasty flavors that almost give it a hickory smell. Opens up with the typical smoothness of Local Color beers. Hardly any carbonation, very soft and creamy. There is a bittersweet flavor that plays on the palate from the roast. Finish is very chewy and surprisingly complex. Maple, bitter molasses, and a slightly winey sweet roast flavor. Good medium body. 2nd Local Color Brew I’ve tried, and I’m very impressed.

Cola brown with a medium sized tan head. Malty, woody aroma. Roasty and sweet with a medium body. Refreshing and much better than expected!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This brew poured a medium head of light brown bubbles and an opaque black body. It had a malty aroma, a smooth taste and mild roasted flavor. It was a very drinkable brew.
