3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 johnnyoski (359) - Macomb, Michigan, USA - APR 9, 2013
Bottle. Dark brown pour with a thin, fizzy head. Chocolate and roasted malt aroma. Semi sweet malty flavor eventually fades to a somewhat bitter, cocoa finish. Watery texture with average carbonation. Good but expected a little more body, even for this style.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20 Mittenator (452) - Michigan, USA - MAR 23, 2013
Draft at Bar 30 (from backlog). Pours a nice deep brown with a medium head. Slight aroma of grains and malt. Flavors are similar - thin and quickly dissipate. Grainy and thin mouthfeel. Not so good.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Alextricity (177) - Chesterfield Twp., Michigan, USA - MAR 20, 2013
Appearance: Pours a dark brown with a nice head, but it fizzles away pretty quickly. There’s no lacing.
Smell: About what you’d expect from the smell of a malt-forward beer... extremely malty, with some slight spice. A generic kind of comment, but that’s really what it smells like.
Taste: It’s pleasant, but I wasn’t expecting it to be so much like a lager. Being a lager, it’s extremely drinkable, but it’ has a somewhat watery consistency, and it’s lacking big, bold flavor. It’s a tasty beer, and a dunkel that could actually be very refreshing on a hot summer day, if you’re craving a dark beer that isn’t too heavy. In that instance, this would be an excellent beer. For its style, it’s actually very quite good. As a whole though, it’s nothing too special. It is probably the most drinkable dark lager beer that I’ve ever had though, so that counts for something.

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Rotbart (153) - - JAN 19, 2013
Cola colored with almost no head and a light sweet aroma. Modest sweet flavor with a thinn finish. Not my idea of a dunkel but palatable.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 glennmastrange (1884) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 8, 2013
Bottle. Moderate dark bread and toasted for the malt, light herbs for the hops, with a background note of wood. Head is small, frothy light tan, with some slippery lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear mahogany. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation. Easy drinking, but mostly a bland Dunkel.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Dogbrick (5993) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 28, 2012
Pours a clear dark copper-brown color with a medium dense off-white head that dissipates slowly. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bready malt and hops. Light body with flavors of toasted malt, grain and grassy hops. The finish is short with a caramel malt aftertaste. Just average overall.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 thedm (4773) - Fort Wayne, USA - DEC 27, 2012
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a typically carbonated transparent cola brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The weak aroma was malty. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The thin flavor contained notes of mild brown malt and brown malt. An OK brew just nothing special.
