Named for the city it calls home, this German style Lager has a distinguished dark appearance and a notably smooth sweet balanced flavor. The result gives our Dunkel a flavor of toasted bread and a malty finish.

Bottled. Poured clear light-medium garnet with a creamy, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up clean, sweet nutty malts, chocolate, and bread, with light, fresh herbal hop accents.. simple, but well done. The flavor found mostly nutty and caramel sweetness at the core, again with fresh herbal accents around.. a pinch of spicy rye toward the back.. clean, sweet finish. Light-bodied and refreshing, with a nice flow to it.. I liked this a lot more than I expected to.

Pours a solid mahogany brown with medium off-white head, decent lacing. aroma of toasted malt, cereal, bread, slight caramel, and a little nutty character. Flavor matches well and is extremely solid for the style.

Bottle from Festival Foods De Pere. Pours out nice with dark, reddish yet still clear color. Smells of light hops, very light on the aroma. Light on the taste as well, you can taste the bitterness of the hops, but it is not to strong. Nothing special, but does leave a good taste in your mouth.

Tap at Brady’s Brewhouse in New Richmond, WI. Murky light brown pour. White head with good retention. Rich caramel malt nose. Medium palate, lower carbonation. Taste is hay, caramel, and a touch of yeast.

Thanks to Jakers90 for this bottle. Served in a tulip. Pours a clear brown color with a hint of a reddish hue. Single-finger off-white head with good retention and a bit of visible carbonation. The nose has some faint caramel malt with a slight toffee presence. The flavor is similar with some added sweetness and a short burst of earthy hops toward the finish. Body is medium and a bit syrupy, at least for the style. Pretty good, but a bit too sweet.

On Tap. Very dark brown hue with an average off-white head that left good lace. Aroma has notes of cereal malts and dark breads. Medium bodied and average/soft carbonation. Overall this brew had kind of an off taste.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2012 Not much of an aroma. Looked like a good dunkel, a little light in color but they can’t all be perfect. Tasted...watered down. Imagine a mediocre tasting dunkel then water it done a little. Very carbonated on mouthfeel. Overall, I would not have this again.

Bottle… Florida Craft Beer and Wing Fest 2012… Clear, brilliant copper lager with a small, fizzy, white head. Sweet, malty aroma with a muted Euro-hop profile. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and laid-back carbonation. The perfectly-balanced, crisp flavor offers a hint of sorghum molasses and some faint roasted notes. Nice, peppery hops tilt this just a tad toward the bitter side of balance. Finishes crisp, lightly bitter and a touch roasty.

Draft. The aroma doesn’t leave much to be desired, but it makes recovery in the taste. Not a bad Dunkel if you ask me. A little bit of a chalky after taste.
