3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thanks to Jakers90 for this bottle. Served in a tulip.
Pours a clear brown color with a hint of a reddish hue. Single-finger off-white head with good retention and a bit of visible carbonation. The nose has some faint caramel malt with a slight toffee presence. The flavor is similar with some added sweetness and a short burst of earthy hops toward the finish. Body is medium and a bit syrupy, at least for the style. Pretty good, but a bit too sweet.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On Tap. Very dark brown hue with an average off-white head that left good lace. Aroma has notes of cereal malts and dark breads. Medium bodied and average/soft carbonation. Overall this brew had kind of an off taste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2012 Not much of an aroma. Looked like a good dunkel, a little light in color but they can’t all be perfect. Tasted...watered down. Imagine a mediocre tasting dunkel then water it done a little. Very carbonated on mouthfeel. Overall, I would not have this again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle… Florida Craft Beer and Wing Fest 2012… Clear, brilliant copper lager with a small, fizzy, white head. Sweet, malty aroma with a muted Euro-hop profile. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and laid-back carbonation. The perfectly-balanced, crisp flavor offers a hint of sorghum molasses and some faint roasted notes. Nice, peppery hops tilt this just a tad toward the bitter side of balance. Finishes crisp, lightly bitter and a touch roasty.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft. The aroma doesn’t leave much to be desired, but it makes recovery in the taste. Not a bad Dunkel if you ask me. A little bit of a chalky after taste.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
I found this, my introduction to Frankenmuth Brewery, on a recent road trip to Detroit. Pours a dark copper/brown with a small off-white head. Smells of roasted malts and almonds. Aroma isn’t too complex: mostly nutty and a bit chalky Taste is on the bitter side without much of a finish. I’m glad to have tried this above average beer, but won’t drive back to Michigan for more.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear copper with a thin brown head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, toasted malt and light nuttiness. Taste is sour and malty with light nuts, light chocolate and a dry chalky finish. Just another bland lager.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle in Detroit. Clear, copper appearance with an ivory head. Toasty, burnt bacon, mild smoky, toffee, caramel aroma. Kind of weird aroma. Summer sausage, mildly smoky, caramel flavor. Drinkable but weird.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Sampled at an esbls tasting. This pours a dark brown and is opaque. A nice tan head does not last long. A malt based nose also has hops and yeast. This is sour and not a great offering.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: This is the first craft "twist off" I’ve had in quite awhile. The aroma is toasty along with some chocolate and nuts. It pours a transparent copper when held to the light with a two finger khaki head that fades fairly quickly to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of light chocolate and caramel. The finish has light toastiness and a touch of nuts. Light bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Overall, a solid Dunkel, but not as good as the times I’ve had it on tap.
