hopscotch (10657) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAR 2, 2012
Bottle… Florida Craft Beer and Wing Fest 2012… Clear, amber lager with a small, white head. The faint bouquet is a subtle marriage of caramel and honey. This one is on the light side of medium-bodied and provides stinging carbonation. The flavor leans a touch bitter with acute, spicy Euro-hops and offers moderately toasted malts. Crisp, mildly bitter, dry finish.

Sample at Bridge Street Tap Room. Reddish-orange color with a medium thick off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, hops and caramel. Light to medium body with flavors of grainy malt, caramel and noble hops. The finish is sweet with a caramel malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy, caramel with a half finger, white head. Aroma has notes of grain, fruity esters, lager yeast, and sweet caramel. Taste matches the aroma. Grain, traditional hops, and a short aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a refreshing, easy drinking texture. Overall pretty standard but refreshing.

Bottle from Frankenmuth. Pour a hazy apricot colour. Lively carbonation. A thin tan head. moderate lacing. Carmel, slightly metallic aroma. Sweet, light. A tough of bitterness. Not bad.

Pours a light copper with a thick white head that quickly disappears. Aroma is sweet caramel, bread, and toasted malts. Flavor is similar, though it’s very thin. Not much going on...a bit watered down. Bland...meh.

On tap. Pours a clear amber with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of bread and light grain notes with a hint of biscuit. Flavor has lots of bread with a touch of sweet grain and hay underlying.

As someone who likes Oktoberfest’s in general, this is one of my favorites. Great taste and very drinkable.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Slighted muddled orange & light copper body; lackluster gray foam on top is gone in under a minute. Aroma has notes of sweet caramel & Munich malts, red apple, & light hints of plum. Kind of one dimension, would like more toasted, bread aromas. Flavor is the same, kind of thin & a little watered down. More toasty bread in the flavor, though... Light caramel malt sweetness, spice, apple, faint grape notes, & some spicy hoppage in the finish. Not bad, but a little bland, not much happening.
