American strong ale, rich in toasted malt and touched with fruit, sugar and warmth. Additions of cherry wood smoked malt, New Hampshire maple syrup and Belgian candi syrup give this unique beer a complex depth with each sip.

transparent cherry, puffy large bubbled white. Off smoke with rotten fruit nose, off-vanilla cream. Smokey fruit front palate, ultra sweet fruit sugar, concentrate-Esque. Thin and way too sweet, sugar straightforward with no malt, no hop.. What is this?

Bottle at the November 2015 DC Gathering. Poured a cloudy amber color with a white head. Aroma was... strange. A touch sweet, herbal. Flavor was brown sugar, with some light toffee and a light earthy note to it.

There are a few things in life that I don’t like to eat: pickles (certainly the work of the devil), olives (gross), ketchup (maybe as a mixer for something better). Maple syrup is also on this list. So while this may be a great beer, it might as well of been made from pickle juice and ketchup. Certainly much better than most bmc beers.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off white head. Aroma is butterish and caramelish. Flat sweet malty, caramelish, syrupy and somewhat butterish. Light bitterness. Dry malty and caramelish finish, light alcohol presence. Bitterness increases into the far finish. Didnt pick up the cherry smoked wood.

On tap: pours a transparent dark mahogany with a spotty-lacing ring of off-white head. Has a rich sweet dark caramel and black cherry nose with some smoke. Starts with good fullness and dark caramel sweetness with a unique balance of tart dark cherries and smoke before a sweet complex finish.

Draft on 07/13/12. Served in a tulip glass. Arrived at the table a murky mahogany color with a thick and creamy antique white head. The aroma featured plenty of cocoa, caramel, candied sugar, dark chocolate, a little coffee, and some dark fruits. Went down full-bodied and smooth. The taste started with plenty of caramel, candied sugar, and a little roasted coffee. A BIG cocoa presence was evident from start to finish. Some estery dark fruits (plums & cherries) were present in the biscuity middle. There was enough of a grassy, bitter finish to keep things from being too one-sided. Some touches of warming alcohol were present throughout. Very deep, complex, and tasty stuff!
