2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20 Volgon (2761) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - NOV 22, 2012
There are a few things in life that I don’t like to eat: pickles (certainly the work of the devil), olives (gross), ketchup (maybe as a mixer for something better). Maple syrup is also on this list. So while this may be a great beer, it might as well of been made from pickle juice and ketchup. Certainly much better than most bmc beers.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off white head. Aroma is butterish and caramelish. Flat sweet malty, caramelish, syrupy and somewhat butterish. Light bitterness. Dry malty and caramelish finish, light alcohol presence. Bitterness increases into the far finish. Didnt pick up the cherry smoked wood.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 lamas (1201) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 14, 2012
Draft on 07/13/12. Served in a tulip glass. Arrived at the table a murky mahogany color with a thick and creamy antique white head. The aroma featured plenty of cocoa, caramel, candied sugar, dark chocolate, a little coffee, and some dark fruits. Went down full-bodied and smooth. The taste started with plenty of caramel, candied sugar, and a little roasted coffee. A BIG cocoa presence was evident from start to finish. Some estery dark fruits (plums & cherries) were present in the biscuity middle. There was enough of a grassy, bitter finish to keep things from being too one-sided. Some touches of warming alcohol were present throughout. Very deep, complex, and tasty stuff!
