Draft at brewpub. Poured a mostly clear golden orange color with a frothy white head at the very top (about one finger). Aroma was yeasty, with a nice resin hop character to it. Smells great. Flavor is a bit grapefruit hop, with a touch earthy notes, and plenty of yeast notes throughout. A fine beer.

On tap at the brewpub: Pours a clear deep golden brass with a spotty-lacing froth of off-white head. Has a fresh resiny grapefruity hoppy nose with some phenolic yeasty esters. Starts with pretty good fullness and fine carbonation with a light caramel malty sweetness and a good amount of citrusy hops and clove spice before a drier bittersweet finish. A good attempt at the style, but a little too phenolic.

Growler courtesy of drabmuh. Served in a Captain Lawrence tulip.
Pour yields a nice orange-bodied brew. However, that’s about it for appearance, as the beer fails to develop any sort of head and doesn’t leave any sort of lacing. I was informed that it was about the same off the tap. The nose brings forward some floral notes and a really nice citrus character. The flavor pulls back a bit but has a nice bitterness to the finish. Medium body and lower levels of carbonation. Pretty good; my first beer from Franklin’s.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 lamas (1071) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 8, 2011
Draft on 05/06/11. Showed up at the table a slightly hazy copper color with a decent-sized beige head. There was a pleasantly well-balanced aroma of caramel, light cereal graininess, grapefruits, citrus rinds, and plenty of spiciness. Went down somewhat thin-bodied for the style. Nothing extraordinary taste-wise - sweet caramel upfront with some biscuity qualities in the middle. Lots of grapefruits and ample spiciness at the tail end. Finished kinda crisp. A refreshing I2PA.
