Rating from a growler. Dark brown in color with some nice amber highlights , slightly hazy. Some nice esters up front in the nose - banana, and some light citrus, as well as some brown sugar and caramel. Taste is slightly estery, slightly sweet with caramel and mild spices...the body is medium, and the finish is dry with lingering esters and a very slight hop bitterness.

Draft sample, pours a clear copper with no head. Subtle aroma of dark fruit, malt and yeast. A bit caramel sweet, but also very watery. Pretty simple for a dubbel.

On tap at the brewpub: Pours a transparent dark copper with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Sweet toasty caramel malty nose has some clove spice and light fruity esters. Starts with pretty good fullness, but could use a touch more carbonation, with some chewy caramel malts and toffee sweetness along with a good peppery clove spice before a drier bittersweet finish. Pretty true to style and drinkable.

lamas (1071) - Washington DC, USA - MAR 24, 2010
Draft on 03/19/10. Came to the table a deep copper/rust color with a thin light-tan head. Pleasantly crisp aroma of candied sugar, banana, bubblegum, caramel, and a touch of spice. Goes down very thin-bodied. Tastes about like it smells - a bit of caramel upfront followed quickly by some bananas. Candied sugar and a subtle spiciness throughout. Very crisp and refreshing. WAY too thin and watery though. Seems a bit rushed.

Lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Fruity peppery yeast, some dark fruits, light herbal hops. A touch of astringency on the finish.

Hazy red-brown pour with a thin white head. Fruity aroma. Yeasty with lots of apple and a bit of banana. Grape and apple fruit flavor. Flavor is good, but a bit weak and the is bitter and harsh.
